I was going to contribute some of my own reasons for digging chai so much, but I didn't realize that you guys were being gay in here. I'll come back later.

Go ahead, fag. You're already in here, you may as well share.

Besides I know nothing of Chai and wished to be educated.

I've been on a real chai kick lately.

Before that it was lady grey. But you know, it's difficult to be the only guy in the room drinking lady grey during the football game when all your buddies are drinking orange pekoe. Ya know?

You drink beer during a football game. Not 'lady grey' tea. What, are you British?

I don't get tea. What's all the hubbub about? I've tried, even at Rickshaws Chinese Restaurant....it just tastes all flowery and herbish like.

But that Lipton (http://img.timeinc.net/time/magazine/archive/covers/1924/1101241103_400.jpg) tea dude has a cool look...I get that part. The rest of it baffles me and my coffee.

Aren't you the one who roasts your own? I remember because that impressed the shit out of me. :p

One of my favorite things about getting my hair cut is that there is this shop across the street that has the second best chai in the whole world.

The best chai is at a restaurant in St. Paul where it tastes like liquid Jawbreakers. You can't have more than one small cup because it's just too good.

actually i roast out the back door (exhaust can be kinda smoky) and now that it's going to rain for the next 9 months here, I'll roast at work...we have a shop with an exhaust fan that I roast under.

this roaster and a few years of patience with different blends have netted some damn good coffee, close to perfect.

sumatra and ethiopian beans blended make mocha java so smooth and full bodied it's like candy.

I find the smell of it actually roasting a bit rank, really. There's a shop up the road that does it and the finished product is fab, but the actual roasting of the raw beans - ugh! Doesn't smell nice at all to me. Doesn't smell anything like coffee, just smells like... I dunno, scorched earth with a touch of dog wee thrown in, or something. Not nice. (n)

Yeah, it kinda smells like burnt oil with a hint of rotten garlic and maybe a dash of paprika.

Okay, maybe I don't know how to describe the smell either.

Lipton Tea Bag, cardamon (give it a good wack so it opens up some), some whole cloves, a stick of cinamon, and some milk. Bring to a boil. Pour in a cup, add a teaspoon of honey. Enjoy the smoov flava.

It smells good at my local place and they have a giant roaster thing. The downside is that it gets really really hot in the coffee shop when it's going.

Maybe they only finish the beans in the store? I'm starting to wonder whether the whole thing is staged. It looks mighty impressive though. :(

So, it's DIY chai for you then.
