I've tried some and I like having them when I travel.

Can anyone recommend any?

A little shout to Ian and little Zoe
One can wonder why but can't deny
If we could work it out it would be so fly
We'll never know unless we try
So tell me party people what's your zodiac sign

No! I didn't realize she had podcasts. That is perfect.

podcast defined (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcasting)

I happen to play them on an ipod, but you don't have to. The sad thing is they eat up space and I had to uncheck a lot of songs to make room for a few hours of podcasts. I mostly download shows from NPR now.

Oh. I should have guessed ipod. I'm too poor folk for one of them.

You don't need an ipod. It's just that its name somehow stuck -- probably because they've been pushing the free subscriptions to get us hooked.

Yeah, I've also been looking at Creative Zen. But they're still about 180 dollars too expensive.

Harry Shearer's Le Show (y)

If you're using iTunes it's in the podcast directory. Unfortunately they cut out most of the songs, but it's nice to be able to listen to the show via podcast.

I enjoy LeShow (I like the part where he reads the headlines and makes comments better than the bits).

Those DPP people are a pretty good fit for driving in the early morning because they're peppy and no thinking is required. I think they are the people who were on a really bad VH1 show where they had a contest for which of them was more irritating and she lost because she loves her dog too much. I saw it when I was staying at a friend's house. :o But I'm enjoying their podcasts.

I'm bumping this for more ideas because I have to drive for about 10 hours tomorrow and it will be difficult to stay awake. The NPR podcasts are kind of spotty. I just downloaded the Fresh Air interview with White Stripes but those things cost money. :(

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has just started producing podcasts. I listened to the first one yesterday, which has Kevin Bacon reading some of Vincent van Gogh's letters to Theo. I found it pretty absorbing (y)

I found it by searching for "Metropolitan" in the iTunes podcast directory.

Seemed like something you would appreciate, Documad.

(And does this make me one or two degrees away from Kevin Bacon?? :D)

^^ I'm going to give it a try. I'm getting ready for a whirlwind trip to outstate MN. I've got to stock up on podcasts for the drive as well as for my 3 fun-filled nights in a hotel next to a highway in the middle of nowhere.

Wow, that sounds bleak. I hope it helps!

I've listened to it three times already. Kevin Bacon needs to make a recording of all the letters so I can listen to it while I work. The Met podcast is pretty cool because it's mostly focused on drawing, and he also talks a little about his plans and decisions for persuing his art. A lot of the time it sounds like he has to justify to Theo what he's doing (like spending time drawing instead of painting more). But it's not always so bad to be forced to articulate what you're up to.

I think hubby has a book of the letters, I'll have to pick it up.

I wonder what the next podcast will be about?
