OK Brits....I need your help. I have an oppourtunity to come to London for New Years through a friend who books these extravigant tours for like retired old people with lots of money. Basically I'd only have to pay for air fare...hotel and food is on her company. SO...what the hell is there to do and where are the hot spots? New years we are usually at some hotel party that has the drinks as well as a room included in the price. I am weighing out my options on what to do. Suggestions??? Thanks.

Don't go to London on NYE; that's my advice. It's packed, over-priced and there's fuck all to do. You'll just end up in Trafalgar Square craning at fireworks. If you can, try and get oop north to somewhere like Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh. It's much more fun.

You can stay and eat at my place for free if you pay for airfare.

In my whole life I've only ever spent New Years Eve in London once. I'd never do it again, although the time we went we all got drunk and ended up staying at Alex Kingston and Ralph Fiennes' apartment (when they were still together).

The town that begins with B, not Brighton is it?

Birmingham?

Once I happened to walk through Trafalgar Square on New Years nite. I'd been on the south side to a gig (Vibrators, Meteors, Guana Batz) and had to change nightbuses there. All these drunken strangers came to give hugs and kisses and wishing Happy New Year and I've been scared of crowds since then.

I second that! (y)

If you mean Birmingham, Birmingham is great, second home.

Brixton?

NYE is for amateurs.

What people with small children say to make themselves feel like they're not missing anything.

Wait I'm all confused. Are you thinking of going to London for NYE or not?

Or are you going to Birmingham?

Personally I can't think for the life of me why anyone would want to go to Birmingham for any reason, but what do I know, I almost never leave London (why would I?).

meh, new years is shite anyway.

but if you do end up in london and you want to go to a club or something book early dude.
they normally have a huge party at the dome, which is easy to get tickets for, but it plays shitty music (depending on taste) and they probably won't have it this year because of the olympics.

I always spend new years at little house party's, they're ok, I guess.

I understand why you might not, you wouldn't ever need to! Unfortunately for the native West Midlanders, we can't afford London prices so Birmingham is the best we can get. :(
