View Full Version : What do you do when you want your guests to leave?

A friend of mine came over tonight. She was supposed to come in the afternoon (which to me means 2-4 pm), but she didn't turn up until six. She was just supposed to bring me some stuff and then have a cup of coffee. Of course she's the verrry talkative kind which after a while bores me to death. First time she said "I really should be getting home" was at eight o'clock, but finally she didn't leave until quarter to ten. I had loads of stuff I needed to do tonight and I have an early night cause I have to get up unusually early tomorrow. I really couldn't say "Could you leave already!" or could I?
What would you do to make your guest know they've outdone their visit?

tell her you are going to the bathroom, and just walk out the front door and run your errands before you come back
take your pants off. if they don't leave, at leaste the visit would get interesting.
...ok, that didn't fly, eh? act tierd, yawn, and so on. if it's a friend then they'd probably understand that you have to sleep for work.
Just say that you hate to do it, but gotta get to bed since you have work early in the morning.
Luckily I've known 90% of my friends since I was 11 so I usually just tell whoever is over that I'm going to bed and to make sure they lock door when they decide to leave.

I generally just tell them: hey, I'm out of booze and weed. you don't have to go home but you can't stay here! :p

Nah, I always inform the friend that I've got lots to do prior to our little natter so that they know when I say "I really need to be getting on now, it's been cool though. Would you like me to walk you down the road?"

Alright friend = you gotta get going, i'm tired and got shit to do.
Friend = i don't want to be rude, but i really need to get to bed soon, and have a lot of things I need to do before that.

Well it was my aunt and farting and yawning didn't help.
I even started doing the ironing, and she wanted to see a show on the telly (she doesn't have a TV) and then started going through my gardening books. I even went out to bury a mouse my cats came in with, I'd thought she'd go out with me, but no.
Maybe I should've said the first time she said it was time to go yeah thanks for this time, see you again...

Well it's the last time I give her a drink, it was just like oil to her motormouth! Man she never finishes talking!!!!
But I had to be subtle with her, she borrowed me so much money so I could get my business started so I couldn't just throw her out.
But I hate it when she complains about people badmouthing behind peoples backs and then she does the same after a drink! I don't like that.

If a mate says they're coming over for a bit, let them know beforehand that you have several things to get done and that you have an early one the next day...Therefore they should hopefully get the hint that they can come 'round 4 a lil' while but not for hours on end (y) That's something I'd do anyway.

My ex and I had an arrangement. If it was his guest that was overstaying his welcome, then my ex would say "Look, my girlfriend is getting all bitchy because she has to get up early. You better get going so I don't have to hear her shit all night. Women. " And if it was my guest, I put the blame on him.

Anyone who is in my house is someone that I know well enough that I can (and do) say, "I have things to do now." and then they leave. My friends know that about me and it's okay.
I do have one friend who doesn't quite leave when I say that I have things to do. In fact, he's gotten up to follow me when I've done those things. Which is weird. So I pretty much don't have him over. I meet him somewhere so that I can leave when I need to.

I usually brush my teeth, and start yawning allot. Putting your robe on and letting your nutsack hang out is usually a room clearer as well.

its funny you should make this thread cuz the other night, a friend of mine celebrated her birhtday on the day, which meant, a weekday, so at like 1, she simply got up and said "alright guys, i gotta work tomorrow, you have to leave!"
and i thought..."THATS RIGHT why the hell not" (just say it like that i mean)
