This was a nicely balanced article, actually.

As much as you guys like Hugo, he does come in for criticism as well.

Much like Castro, he DOES employ incendiary rhetoric to control his people, while possibly not REALLY believing what he is saying. Think Arafat.

Anyhow, the point here was to incite anti-US feelings, while still profiting from selling massive amounts of oil to the US (see previous thread/article citing the INCREASE of exports to the US recently from Venezuela).

Interesting dichotomy in his foreign / domestic policies, if nothing else....

"Like his friend Fidel Castro, our analyst adds, Mr Chavez thrives on conflict and finds it politically useful to portray himself as a victim of US aggression."
yes, there is no us aggression towards chavez. none at all. pat robertson calling upon the US to assassinate chavez is not aggression.
a fucking three year old can see that he is not making this up - the US want him dead!

Yeah....cuz if Pat Robertson, for God's sake, says it....well......it MUST be true.

Isn't he the Foreign Minister for the US? Doesn't he have millions of followers who blindly follow him and do every single thing he says?

Oh, I'm sorry, I must have him confused with Castro and Chavez....silly me :p

well if a "smart" person like you believes what robertson says, then there are millions of others.
oh, and if you're going to spout bullshit like "oh chavez is a communist dictator threatening my way of life" i'd at least like some proof.

I was being SARCASTIC with the RObertson comment. Sorry if that wasn't clear

I've NEVER said that Chavez threatens MY way of life.
