I took a boat out to some island, not a very long trip (about 40 minutes) but it was rough. The water was knocking this little ass boat all over the place... ANYWAY, I was bored after I have been on the island for a couple hours so I hiked up some crazy stairs up a mountain and found a temple. I was checking out the place and I walked into this building and there was a hella old man give a monk a massage, they both wave me in and to my surprise, the old man spoke English and was translating between me and the monk (who the old man said was the head dude at that temple) for about 30 minutes, then the monk gave me his ring. Wild! That's one for the grandkids for sure. ANyway, got a couple days left until I head back to England, got lots more to do. Talk to you later.

cool story tone.

did they teach you the way of the shaolin kung-fu styles?

one of my most memorable monk stories comes from woodstock 99. i was chilling at the tibetan monks' tent as it was one of very few places you could relax in SHADE. it was very relaxing and i could hear JEWEL off in the distance. the monks were dilligently working on a cool coloured sand picture.

outta no where a biker roars into the tent with some trashy broad on the back. culture clash! biker dood, hops off the bike, puts the stand down and walks over to the sand picture. he is greeted wide-eyed and without judgement. the monks embrace, smile and laugh together. one young monk is completely amazed by the motorcycle. after the biker is done meeting everyone he offers the young monk a ride. eagerly, but hestitantly the monk accepts. he hops on the back of the bike and they roar off for about 10 mins.

they return and the young monk has tears running down his face and a huge smile to match. they exchange pleasantries and the young monk rejoins his place in the sand picture creating.

east meets west, perfectly.
