Ok, I've always thought that debut records are usually their best offerings. Here are my examples... and I mean solo records... not groups. Please, offer your suggestions as well. Thanks.

Nas - Illmatic
Jay-Z - Resonable Doubt
The Notorious B.I.G. - Ready To Die
Redman - Whut? The Album
Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle
GZA - Liquid Swords

I think he was waving gang signs at you while he typed that.

Considering his list I reckon he only expected hip hop albums.

He won't be interested to know that I think Jagged Little Pill was a great album only to be followed by uninteresting albums.

Jordan Knight's self-titled solo was way better. You must be high.

And the NKOTB debut sucked, my friend. Sheesh.

Their sophmore album was far far superior.

Was 'Hanging Tough' on the first one? Wasn't there some real hard ass RnB, right ear earring-wearing joint on one of them? One the Step by step shit. Or was that the show with Suzanne Somers?

Fuck.

Damn, dude. You really don't know your NKOTB. Here, let me school you, son. The debut sucked. Nuff said. The follow-up was Hangin Tough. That shit was classic. It featured such bangers as Please Don't Go Girl, I'll Be Lovin You Forever and the aformentioned Hangin Tough, as well as other serious heat. Step By Step was the third joint. It was alright. It showed a bit of progression, both musically and in terms of subject matter. Songs like Games showed that they hadn't lost their rawness, as well. Their final opus, Face The Music was perhaps their best work to date, but was seriously slept on. Guests and producers included Nice N Smooth, Teddy Riley, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. The album was fire. But Hangin Tough was and probably will always be known as the pinnacle of their many achievments in the biz.

Then I'm talking about the street joint from Step by Step. Maybe it was games.

Protect Ya Neck had a very similar video.

This is how it started, I remember how you laughed
When you met Jason Orange and asked him for an autograph
Before that time it was NKOTB
To you they were the greatest and the fan club was free
You got the photos, the tapes and the t-shirt
But when they finally split up I could see how much it hurt
Then other boybands came along and stopped the pain
But somewhere deep inside amongst the sunshine there was rain

Yeah, more so than 'Ironman' for reasons I can't quite explain. Something about a time and a place for a debut.

Until Supreme Clientele came along and just set the bar a bit too high for all of them, further diminishing any and all likelihood of U-God ever eclipsing the entire crew and taking over the whole industry.

Cuban Linx was like a movie in it's conviction, where Ironman was like a pilot in it's desperation to force ideas out. Both dope, but that's how I feel.

I know you just wanted solos, and not bands, and I'm gonna probably get a TON of shit from a bunch of you, but I honestly think, track for track, Guns N Roses' Appetite for Destruction is the greatest Album ever.

If you like the genre, you can't deny that every song on that CD kicks ass.

But I think Ratm debut album is even better.
How can an album be better than an album containing Killing In The Name, Bombtrack, Freedom, Wake Up, Know Your Enemy, Bullet In The Head, etc etc?

But, I hate G'NR as much as I hate limp bizbit. The sound of Axl's voice and his apperance makes me want to puke.

They had some good stuff, but, no; they're not the second coming. Or fourth.

--- I forgot about Bob Mould's first solo: Workbook. That was really good.

Grant Hart's 1234 was good, too, actually.
