If that's even the right word...anywho, I'm going up there next Wednesday and I really wanted to go to the World Series since I'd be there anyways, but turns out it's $125 a pop for the cheapest seats. I was wondering where there'd be some good bars to go watch the game, either downtown or near Wicker Park. I saw how bat-shit crazy your Cubs fans were, and if the White Sox fans are nearly as fanatical, I'd like to party with them.

You can come by the crib but it's $20 a head and you have to play all kinds of off the wall drinking games.

they keep putting this bar Bourbon Street on the news here. it's in a south suburb though. I don't know anything about sports bars though. I'd say when it's the world series and the bar has t.v.'s, it'll be crazy no matter where you go.

I was thinking Harry Caray's, but uh. Yeah. That'll probably be jam-packed.
Maybe I'll just have a super sexy party with Wayne and his cat.

*excuse the bump*
Some of the best sports bars to go to in this event would be in the Bridgeport neighborhood (35th and Halsted). That's where Comiskey is. (No self respecting South Sider calls it U.S. Cellular One Field. We hate that fucking name. To us it will always be Comiskey.) I guarantee that place will be insane but since I don't do any drinking around there I really can't tell you where to go.
There is a pretty good sports bar I used to work at in the downtown area called Timothy O' Tooles (http://www.timothyotooles.com/). Great neighborhood, good people and they've got these super huge frosted beer mugs. I think you guys will like it.
Have fun.

Does "private party rooms" secretly mean "free lapdances"?
Cuz if so, I'm in.

"Located in the heart of Chicago's River North, the restaurant, designated the "Official Home Plate of the Chicago Cubs", is within walking distance of numerous major hotels and office buildings."

Do cubs and white sox hate each other?
It's not like that for the Orioles/Nationals, but if it's a faux pas in Chicago, then I'll pass. :-/

The city of Chicago is divided into three sections. You're either from the north side, south (sowt) side or the west side. There really is no east side because if you go too far east you'll wind up in the middle of Lake Michigan. Wrigley Field, home of the Cubs is located on the corner of Clark and Addison which is on the north side of the city. Comiskey, or Sox Park, is located at 35th and the Dan Ryan Expressway and that is on the south side. Naturally there is a rivalry between the two and there always will be. People who live on the west side root for whom ever they choose.
Being a 'sowt sider' from 95th and Halsted, I am naturally a die hard Sox fan. The Scrubs (Cubs) suck.

Oooh gotcha. Yeah, I guess it's different because both teams are from the same city, whereas the O's and Natl's are just from the same vicinity.
I'll be on the north side (at least I think it is, Wicker Park) so I guess I'll have to go to the northside bars and boo. :p

Well, there is an inter-city rivalry but when it comes to something like this everyone pulls together and we represent as one so everyone on the north side will be watching and rooting for the Sox. It doesn't matter where you go to watch the game it will be the same all over the city.

You said you'll be in Wicker Park, right. I run around Wicker Park all the time but for the life of me I cannot think of one sports bar in the area. They are all clubs an and small venues for garage bands and shit. My guess is that if you are in Wicker Park next Saturday night you will probably be in some bar where no one cares about the game, hence the reason they're not in a sports bar that night. You might have a hard time watching it. The game will be all over Wrigleyville (that's the name of the neighborhood surrounding Wrigley Field). Even though Wrigley is north side and Sox are south side, like I said, everyone all over the city will be watching the game. The area around Wrigley is alot safer than the area around Comiskey so I would feel better sending you there. Besides, I think you'll have alot more fun in a 'neighborhood' bar as opposed to some downtown joint that's set up to cater to tourists.
Wrigley is at Clark and Addison. In that immediate area you have Murphy's Bleachers (http://www.murphysbleachers.com/), The Cubby Bear (http://www.cubbybear.com/) (in which there is a link to The Sports Corner (a really good place)), Sluggers (http://www.sluggersbar.com/) and a place called High Tops, which I can't find the fucking website to. All these places are within three blocks of each other so it's not like you guys will be doing a lot of running all over the place.
I think if you guys are really geared towards watching the game with real Chicago fans then this will be your best bet.

yo, South Siders, what gives??
"The White Sox apologized Monday for the behavior of one of their fans during Sunday night's game in Chicago.
The fan hit Craig Biggio's wife twice on the head. Biggio said his wife, Patty, jumped over her seat to run after the guy.
"It was unfortunate that one guy thought he was being funny and slapped my wife upside the head and I guess his misfortune was that you don't do that to a Jersey girl 'cause she chased him down, caught him and we're just gonna leave it at that -- nice and simple," said Biggio.
Biggio said his wife is fine.
The Astros say their security people are working with authorities in Chicago, but the man was not arrested.
The White Sox manager says he's disappointed at the fan's behavior and plans to apologize to the Biggio family.
Update:At a press conference Monday, White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen addressed an incident involving a Sox fan and Craig Biggio’s wife, Patty.
A male fan was arrested after allegedly pulling Biggio’s hair.
“When that happens in the ballpark, you feel disappointed,” Guillen said."

oh god, whatever you do, don't go to hi tops!
when the cubs were doing well, they showed the games in almost every bar I went to. I went to Gold Star on division (between damen and ashland) to watch the game and drink. that place is pretty neutral. plus it's in the video for "swing life away" by rise against. heh.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. They are living up to the blue-collar bad boy image. Idiots.

I'm sorry but that bitch was eye-ballin' me for like 3 innings.
Ozzie said if that happened to his wife, he would bail they guy out & then bring him to the clubhouse for a beating.
