Let's hear it for sweaters. Not the Laurie Anderson song, though that's awfully good; I mean sweaters. One of the many great things about autumn rollin' 'round.
This one I'm wearing? $4 in the thrift store this past weekend. 50% off of $7.99. Score!

I like to turn the heating down in my house and put a sweater on (y)
Saves a fortune too

In my new apartment, I've thrown the futon in the dressing closet and sleep in there. So I can heat that space solely at night and my bills are still waaaaaayyyyyy low.
I hate sleeping with clothes on. Sorry for the mental picture, but it's true.

When winter comes...all I wear is turtlenecks. Secret obsession.

Nice. (y)
....but.... they do come off at some point, right? I mean, I hope so. That'd be a helluva dry cleaning bill in the spring.

^ they do come off...when I say so.
sweaters are too hard to wash

sweaters are too hard to wash
send them to the dry cleaners or hand wash them and hang dry but if this is what you meant by them being too hard to wash then nevermind.

Sweaters aren't too tough to care for, really.
At least, I don't think so.

my definition of "too hard to wash" is basically anything more complex than throwing them in a washing machine, and then some kind of heated drying machine
I have dozens of sweaters (some that are over 5 years old) and don't think I have ever washed any of them. Does this make me dirty? They don't smell, there are no stains....
i don't like washing sweaters either, cause they always come out rougher on the inside. i think i've washed the one i wear now 3 times since i bought it in february. nothing beats a fresh new sweater.

I can see by your avatar that it's taken its toll.
yes that makes you dirty.
How so? I always have a shirt underneath them so no armpit juice ever hits them. I don't spill liquid on them. Food never falls on them. I don't use them as a tissue when my nose is runny. I don't see how they can be dirty.

I just reorganised my closet this weekend - did that seasonaly thing of putting away the summery items and taking out the wintery ones. I only have 2 sweaters (or 'jumpers' as the Brits insists on calling them) now, because I got rid of a bunch at the end of last season.
One of them is this ancient giant black thing, which looks like it's been through a war and isn't suitable for wearing outside the house, but it's comfy and it's warm, so it's my evening-sitting-on-the-couch-watching-telly sweater. (Guaranteed to make mr.peachy roll his eyes and say, "oh now don't you look sexy".)
The other one is this really long flowy drapey light purple one I got in Amsterdam; it's not exactly figure-flattering, but since I'm pregnant all this winter I that means I don't have to care about that (y) and even so, everytime I wear it I get compliments on how comfortable and soft it looks and how unique the cut of it is, so it's all good.
But yeah I think it's time for me to hit some charity shops and stock up.

I like sweaters. I don't like "dad" sweaters, but I'll wear "old man" sweaters, like argyles or this one with a herringbone pattern. I have a few cable knits also. Mostly, I like simple patterns, stripes or solid colors. But yeah, I try to get a couple of new sweaters every year.

Did you know he used to kiss himself after he ate a good meal?
So I've heard. I never discussed it with him, directly.
*OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE AHEAD*
Probably the only person in the English language who made the word "cunt" sound sexy. See: Tropic of Cancer. Or was it capricorn? Shit; I can't remember. Capricorn, maybe.

Naw.... I haven't read his stuff since I was about 19.
That's 1056 years for you who're counting.
That should also remind you to start thinking of stuff for my birthday next month. The big three-nine!

i love sweaters. cardigans, pullovers, thrift store, fancy with beading, vintage, new, argyle, 3/4 sleeve...love 'em. then again, i have a bit of an obsession with jackets and all things outerwear. doesn't really fit too well with living in southern california though.

It's about 55 degrees F when I catch the bus in the morning.
But then, in the afternoon, it's about 70-75 degrees when I ride my bike three miles to the bus stop.
I wish there were a service that would retrieve my sweater or coat from work in the morning and leave 'em on my doorstep at home in the afternoon.
