I know, the lyrics are sad and he sounds depressed, and that music at the end is all racy but cool sounding and it's symbolic. It's a cool song but it's so damn depressing. :( When he says "let me die an instant death" I'm like "No, don't let him!"

i mean, it's like i can actually feel the way he felt back then. and that happens every time i hear this song. it kinda creeps me out (the feelings), and it leaves me kinda heartbroken... :(
And what do you do when
Your own man kills himself and
How do I make friends now
And where is my Mom
I need to show her that
She taught me
i dont get it.
did adrocks dad kill himself, i know his mom died.. but what about his dad ?
& yeah, that song is sad :(

I like how the beginning of the song sounds like a children's song...
The sounds of little kids playing in the park... The innocence...
The memories... Before all of the mayhem... Not having a care in the world...
No responsibilities... Just being a kid, having fun with friends...
Sharing feelings with family...
Not even aware of the pain and hurt that would soon follow...
Having the harshness of reality hitting you hard, all at the same time...
Horovitz is such an inspiration... So much pain, and is still here to talk about it
I need to give my mom a hug...since my dad isn't with me anymore :(

Jesus fuck. I just wrote this long-ass reply stating why I think the song's good and how Horovitz's simple lyrics so easily evoke the desired emotion and linking that to how the childlike music at the start makes one nostalgic and sad and linking that to the tone of his damn voice and then the motherfucker said "invalid thread specified" when I tried to preview it and I LOST THE ENTIRE THING.
Anyfuckingway, you people should like, state why you like it too. 'Cause all these threads are just random and pointless. It's much more interesting to read threads talking about opinions when people also state the reasons for their opinions than threads full of, "I like that song too!" and quoting lyrics and shit.

Besides that i can totally feel this song, and feel all the feelings that are/were related to it (for Adam), it reminds me my own relationship to my dad. i still have both of my parents, but its like i never really had a father. he did a lot of sick and disgusting stuff to me and to my brothers (especially to them...). and sometimes i wonder what it would've been like having a loving father, one that didn't abuse us and beat the sh** out of us every time he was around.... :(

Youre right............Its more interesting, for sure (y)
But I dont see any problem when someone just writes "Yeah, I like that song too" without a statement saying why they like the song.

I agree with you that critical comments are more interesting to read, however contrary to the popular expression, maybe everyone isn't a critic.
I'm 'guilty' of throwing out my share of "I'm feeling it" posts without elaborating, but I think it's a valid response to artistic expression.
That said, I've gotten a lump in my throat listening to this song before.
I was just going to make a post saying that and nothing more but your post did prompt me to think a little bit more about the song, and one thing about it that always strikes me when I go to look at the lyrics is how few words make it up. Horovitz expresses heavy emotions and complex situations with an economy of words that is impressive. To me that's what poetry is about (not being at all expert in poetry or even claiming to really understand it on a theoretical level, I've nonetheless managed to come up with something that helps me make sense of the form) - boiling things down to the essence. (Maybe?)
And even that isn't really explaining 'why I like the song,' it's just something to appreciate about it. I don't know if I can even say that I like the song because contemplating the things discussed in it isn't a pleasant experience, however it is a powerful one, and of course that's something that makes a work of art a success (well, to me anyway).
So there you go, a couple thoughts...

Here's a little more than "I Just like the song" ha, ha..
In my opinion it truly is a brilliant song. At the end of the song where it's just repetitive, beautiful music it always makes me reflect and think about all the little moments in my life. Like all, random little images/flashing thoughts at once. This might sound weird, but for me at this moment in the song it's as if you were falling down from a skyscraper and you thought about everything that happened in your life really quickly..before you were to die.
So in addition to thinking about Adrock's mom & his friend Dave Scilken being taken away from him too early in life (one minute they're in his life, and the next they're gone..instant death), for me personally I take the title of the song to mean how you think of things right before you die.
If anyone's seen the movie Vanilla Sky there's a scene in it at the end when you see all of Tom Cruise's visions which he has his head when he falls off the top of a building. It's this same feeling I get.

Dammit, this song is the best song ever produced by them. It always reminds me of my grandfather. He has Choria-Huntington, a desease (is this the right word?) that destroys your brain cell for cell.
It's very devastating to see a person going back from the mind of a grown man to the mind of a baby. He should be a person like my second grandfather with special charactristics and this stuff but he is just a body that cna't move very good and can say "Hello".
The song catches perfect the feeling that I have for him (not so much the lyrics but the music)
For the next record:
more of that unexpected songs with something more than
politics

the opening of that track sounds like a Michael Jackson song...

I used to listen to it a lot.
I found the beat at the end was representative of the confusing cycle of grief, or the 'loop'. It has a very subtle sound that asks: "Was I ever Young?" to my ears, when I turn them off.
