View Full Version : I'm a flawed person
mickill

And I like other flawed people.
I like a lot of not so perfect songs, not because they're so bad that it makes me laugh, but because not all the music I listen to has to push the envelope or make me think. I enjoy some "bad" movies for the same reasons; I don't mind giving my mind a break from too much thinking.
I'd equate a perfect cd/record collection, with nothing you're slightly embarrassed of, to a house with every little thing in order; it feels cold and unlived in. There's no character, no charm, no personality.
I don't care about getting so and so's album 3 weeks before everybody else because I spent hours online looking for it. I'll cop it from the store 5 weeks after it comes out, when it's old news, if I want to.
I also don't worry about following certain trends. By that I mean, I don't worry about other people thinking it's lame to follow certain trends. I just do what I do. I think it's sad when people dwell too much on what other people are doing/wearing/listening to/watching.
Is it because I'm getting older/wiser, because I'm comfortable in my own skin? No, not really. I think it's because I'm really cool and have big muscles.

I completely agree. I am proud to have lame music in my collection, including bazza manilow and the bee gees (I'm not just talking saturday night fever here either, I'm talking their early days totally lame-o stuff).
I am also proud to know all the lyrics to the traamps disco inferno, and equally proud to sing it at any moment.
But this is just musically. In all other aspects I'm just a sheep. I follow the cool kids, but they still pick on me :(

I have to agree with you there, but more important than liking things because it's what you like, you also have to not bash others for not liking what you like as well, or liking something you don't like.
There's a lot of music and movies that I don't like, but when I meet someone that likes it, I just say OK as opposed to telling them their taste sucks.
That's more important than not caring if people think you have bad taste.

Not even close. Everything Stevie touches turns to gold.
Phil has his "You'll be in my heart" moments.
my biggest weakness is that i'm a little too perfect

i guess the question must be raised: what is a "flaw"? what is "perfection"?
it sort of becomes a philosophical debate.....
but something as subjective as music or art can never have an agreed upon "benchmark" to hold things up as "flawed" or "perfect".
but i guess your comment is aimed more at the owner thinking his own library to be "flawed" in his own opinion...and being fine with that...as this shows character, growth, etc....

Yeah, I think it's more the fact that one can say "Yeah I have some quality stuff in my collection, but every so often, I have to pop in that Tevin Campbell CD, because at the time, that shit was my JAM!"

No, I'm just saying that I don't really care to be perfect. Not only because it's theoretically impossible, but because it's boring. And because people that strive to prove to the world that their tastes are flawless are dead inside.
Is there such thing as perfect though? Because what is perfect to one is not perfect to the next.
Is it because I'm getting older/wiser, because I'm comfortable in my own skin? No, not really. I think it's because I'm really cool and have big muscles.
haha, i love that

Perfection is not really subjective. I know what's good and what's bad, what's perfect and what's flawed. We kinda all do.
As far as entertainment, personal style or hobbies go, you're just denying your own inherent human interests/desires if you think that everything you'd really appreciate would fall under the category of "cool". Face it, you like some crap, as well.
Right, but let's use YOU as the example of perfect.
You are like a supposed attractive (fe)male with dark hair, olive skin, nice dresser, good hair, shitty mixed with decent taste in all things.
So, the chicks that dig the shaggy haired blonde surfer types are gonna be like, pshah...
and my love of DIO has nothing to do with this...

You're talking about ideals. Your definition of Ideal is different from mine. I'm talking about true perfection. Ideal is just a model for perfection. We're all imperfect. But some of us are the ideal imperfect for some other imperfect loser. Why are you arguing with me? Just agree that I'm right and go talk about things you understand, like poop and Oingo Boingo.
I don't understand Oingo Boing though.

Yo, I like 'Computer Games' by Mi Sex, and I prefer the Sugarbabes/Adina Howard/Gary Numan mash up of 'Freak Like Me' to both the original and 'Are friends elctric?'.
I d/led 'Late Registration' and only have it on my mp3 player, meaning if I want to hear it out loud, I have to USB it. And I'm stressing about whether or not to buy the disc or keep going the way I am.
I buy a lot of 'pLatinum' ps2 games. I want to buy them when they first come out, but now I'm not a teenager I realise that knowing something is worth it is much better than looking like a dick to try to be up with the play.
I agonise over arguments I had 7 years ago.
All of these being considered by me as 'flaws' are what constitute my being a 'Flawed' person.
The fact I love it is the best thing about me.
