When I convert my remixes from wav files to mp3 files, is there any point in converting them to a bitrate higher than 128kbps? I understand that 128kbps is the standard but is it worth converting them at a higher bitrate? Like, is there a significant difference in file size with a higher bitrate? And also, can the human ear really tell the difference?
Thanks.

yes, there is a noticeable difference. 128 is a good balance between file size and lossy compression from encoding an mp3 from a WAV or AIF native file.
not really a need to go higher than 192kbps IMHO.
