Cheese is right...

there never was a pauls Boutique to begin with... there never was a Pauls Boutique in Brooklyn, there was no Janice...

Guido and CJS1981 are right...

there is now a diner called Pauls Boutique in the LES, on the very street corner where the album cover was photographed...paying homage to the famous street corner and album cover...

if there are any Pauls Boutiques anywhere else, it probably means the owners are hip to the Beastie Boys and are giving a shoutout to the best album ever made(according to Chris Rock)...

On a trip to New York in 1992, I discovered a Paulette's Boutique in Brooklyn. :D

We all know that Ludlow and Rivington is a prop - no arguements there.
I must say I love the Dwight Gooden Jersey used.

But have we heard a definitive answer as to whether or not there was a Paul's Boutique on Utica Ave in Brooklyn? - The address mentioned in Ask For Janice - PArt 2?

In France, there's a famous cartoon which is called "Funky Cops"... awesome!
It is broadcast everydays, and the scene lays in San Fransisco
in the 70's. All songs are performed by a famous french DJ ("DJ Abdel").
Anyway, sometimes, we can notice in the street a shop on which we can
read PAUL' S BOUTIQUE...probably a dedication to the Boys...

You probably know this already but....

Back in the early 90's Riverington Street was filled with thrift stores and discount wholesalers, very different then how it looks today. The picture of Paul's was a store called Lee's Sportswear. Some time in the mid-90's the store closed down and the area really started to change. In the same place of Lee's open a 'trendy' clothing store but they kept the Lee's sportswear sign up on the Ludow side of the street. But the store didn't last-to-long and eventually closed. After it closed the whole store inside and out was redone, all the brick outside the store was replaced, once that happened the Lee's sportswear sign disappered. (Around the same time Ben's shoes also closed down) when the store front that was Lee's reopen it was a tea and coffee shop owned by Moby. (you would think Moby would have kept the sign up??) Recently a cafe opened across the street from the orignal location it's called Paul's Boutique, no connections to the B-Boys just using the cornors fame...

The ask for janice commerical is a similiar to a bunch of TV ad's that would run on channel 9 and 11 in nyc in the 1980's late at night

Most people here probably already know this....
