I saw that on the headlines, and I thought...didn't she die last year? I could have sworn that she did. Like, seriously. I remember hearing about it.

I never heard about this. She definitely was an important person in civil rights. Sad to hear her pass. :(

Man, I thought she was going to live for another 5 yrs at least...

I lived in Detroit for a couple of years, it would've been nice to have met her.
We should never, ever forget her bravery as well as countless others, for helping pave the way for a more peaceful and accepting society.

Still, there's still a lot of work left to be done

I think that last year there was a story about how she was going to be evicted from her apartment. I think her church had been paying her rent for ages and the funds dried up or they couldn't meet mangement increases or something. It got into the news, and suddenly the apartment owners said they'd never evict her, etc.

I think that might be what you'd read.

She was also in the news in the last few years after she was robbed by a couple of young black men...

they arrested the teenagers and told them who they had just mugged, and what she had done for them, fuckin morons!!

I just saw a PBS special on Rosa Parks and how she sparked the civil rights movement, the Montgomery bus boycott, and MLK and others got on board because of her actions directly...

when the law was changed and "colored" people were allowed on the front of the bus, Rosa Parks was the first to get on the bus...

and who was driving? the very same driver who she refuse3d to move for in the first place. he had a smirk on his face and the whole bus applauded...

I thought her estate sued Outkast, but I guess it was her. I figured she would've gone before Ritter.

1. I thought that was Malcom X's widow.

2. Seriously? I love it when life comes full circle like that.
