i never noticed it on the daily show, but i'm watching the colbert report, and he seems to stumble on his words an awful lot. i mean he's still funny, it's just something that's wierd for someone like him to do

I agree. Maybe he's just nervous?

Really? I think he's pretty smooth. I've only seen him mess up once or twice.

look closer, he's done it at least twice in the 5 minutes or so the show's been on.

he just doesn't seem like the kind of guy to get nervous, he carries himself so confidently. it's strange.

I do know he went through voice training to get rid of his Southern accent. Maybe it's because of that? I dunno.

he had a southern accent? can't see it. maybe it's because I'm used to the nondescript one he uses now.

He comes from North Carolina (or is it South? I can never tell those Carolinas apart), so it's not a stretch that he'd talk all Southern. ;)

ah, true. I have a friend (also named steven) from West Virgina, and in my mind I'm putting his voice on Stephen Colbert. It's quite funny.

He's from South Carolina.

And I have no idea what a real WV accent sounds like because I stay close to my borders, as to not subjugate myself to a reinactment of Deliverance.
