Talk about fucking up your life twice over. Good work George, maybe that liver should have gone to someone who deserved it.

To be fair, he's had a good life fucking Miss Worlds and drinking champagne for breakfast.

Waste of good livers, though.

Amazing footballer, absolutely fucking amazing.

But yeah, it's his own fault that he's where he is now, so I don't have much sympathy. Plus, he left Alex Best; the man must be mad. She's a fox and even now she still stands by him.

If you can call taking the cars and house and children standing by him.

He left her, and she's the one sitting by his proverbial deathbed.

As tragic as it is, the man brought it upon himself. I was sympathetic first time around but that liver sure has gone to waste.

Everyone has problems and I see the point of the wasted liver but he bought so much joy to the world of football if you worked it out on a karma negative + positive sum* I think the positive would come out on top.

Anyway, I think this will be a RIP thread soon cus he ain't gonna get better it sounds like. Still a legend tho (y)

* = I know karma doesn't work in this way I just used that as a way to explain what I mean, before any of you smart arses reply :p

I can't quite work out why I'm supposed to care about him. I'm really rather sick of hearing about him, to be honest. So he kicked a ball real good several years ago. BFD.

Although i have sympathy because alcoholism is a disease, i can't help feeling this too.

My question is what the hell are the papers going to write about tomorrow? They did all the 10 page spread obits today. Before he actually died.

In a world where smokers are treated for lung cancer and obese people are treated for heart problems, and those who cause car crashes through dangerous driving are treated in the same manner as those who also suffer in those crashes, and nothing is said, how can one man receive such vilification for accepting a liver transplant?

RIP the greatest footballer that Britain has ever produced.

It's not that he received a liver transplant. It's that he recieved a liver transplant, and then continued to drink his life away. It's not about getting the second chance in the first place, it's about squandering it utterly.

You're supposed to care because we should be a caring society. Football is partly the great game it is today because of him. And football brings millions of people happiness every saturday. How can that be a bad thing?

Still RIP, you've made millions happy and found a love in life for those millions...

...you now can piss on those from heaven that don't care about your death but you'll forever be loved in the football loving community!

ms.peachy

But I don't care about football, either.

but care for millions who do who this'll effect.
How exactly will the lives of these millions be changed?

Listen - on a basic human level, I'm not saying it isn't sad for his family and actual friends, but the fact is, if he'd cared a little bit more for himself and his loved ones, I'd have more respect. Yeah OK he was an alcoholic, he had a disease. But he had the choice to use his resources to DEAL WITH IT or not, and he chose not. So I don't see why I'm supposed to see this as some great tragedy and huge loss.

Cus tomorrow is a world without George Best, the greatest club footballer ever is now dead :(

Not saying he wasn't an idiot with his health. But you always look on someones plus side when they die. It's the law!

I dunno, you don't have to care I suppose. But he'll be sadly missed thats all. He was an interesting Human Being who had it all but was plagued with his own demons. I like a fallen hero and a lot of the British public do to. Makes some one real. Shows you even those who have the talent don't always suceed to the height of their ability. But you got the feeling he tried to stay alive when you saw him in interviews, it's just that when it came to alcohol he wasn't as strong as the next guy.

I dunno how to say what I'm trying to say. Care or don't care, football was the true winner of his time on earth. And I suppose 1000's of bars :D

I didn't know he had died!!

edit: woah, I didn't even know he had a brain tumour!

I have his signature somewhere from years ago when he did the British Rally. I was more into tourning cars but rally was also cool.
