right, ireland and australia have been playing each other in a "compromise rules" (gaelic football and aussie rules) for years now, always a great occasion...
but this year is a farce. i have never seen such unsportsman like behaviour or pure out and out thuggery on a sports field in my life as i have from the australians this year. it was disgusting. the irish gaelic body (the GAA) are considering never playing again, i would totally support them. it was basically a brawl...and trust me, both aussie rules and gaelic players are not pussies, they always get in scraps (its accepted) but this was on another level....
i was wondering what the coverage in australia was like....

I didn't see this weeks match, but Russell Robertson's hit on the Irish player last week was something that wouldnt even raise an eyebrow in afl. Hip and shoulders are just part of the game. Anyway, from what I've heard the reason why the Irish media is calling for the game to be binned is because Ireland wasn't up to the physicality or the athleticism of our players.
Anyway, the overall reaction in the Aussie media is definitely not that the Australians were unsportsmanlike, because in the context of our game we weren't. More that the Irish team is not good enough to challenge an Australian team as athletic as the one selected.

Yeah because we picked a young, fast side that could own in the compromise rules instead of the all-australian side which is too tall and slow (y)

Yeah well thats Chris Johnston for you. He'd still get reported in the AFL, but he'd only get one or two weeks.
as much as i hate chris johnson, i wish i saw what he did. didn't he deck two players?
hahahaha
not alot of aussies pay attention to gaelic matches; well i don't anyway.

Whats the scored doing on this ? Like have they both won a game each and the decider is next week ? Or is it all over ? I have missed every game so far, NOT HAPPY. I used to like this better than AFL. Not Gaelic footy. But when both country's meet and they each have to change there rules from normal so it evens out. Like tapping it in the goal an shit or whatever each league's rules change.
