Yeah me too. I love when Reagan gets the needles in her neck, and the banging noise of that old school CAT or MRI or whatever it was. That shit was scary before it even got scary.
And the preamble illustrating precisely how close Reagan and her mother were, and how much of a good, loving kid she was further push the horror of the possession.
Coupled with Father Karras' own private coonflicts over his faith and his Mothers' abandonment and subsequent death, and you've got one good night in.
And let's not forget the crucifix masturbation.

^and the tubular bells music that was just creepy.

They weren't scary but they didn't suck in my opinion. I thought they were very cleverly made and with a whole lot of self irony.
I didn't get the whole scary movie thing because the originals almost were parodies.

You know what movie is really scary? The Dawn of the Dead remake. Nothing in the movie itself is scary, it's just frightening that they decided to remake it with runing zombies. Who thought that was a good idea?
And what's even scarier is that apparently people prefer the remake to the original. :(

The first one was pretty good. I haven't seen it in years, but I really liked it when it first came out. But the other two, uggggggggggh.

I like 'em both but the original is still, well, the original!
The whole mall thing worked better in the original in my opinion. It might have been because Romero didn't mind slowing down the movie a bit in order to make it work.

The zombie baby is what killed the remake for me. I could have loved it if it wasn't for the zombie baby. Hell I could've even loved the zombie baby if it hadn't looked like Gollum. :(

Yeah, that bit was weird. Didn't really have a function either, was put in just for shock value in my opinion.
Although... well... it is a horror movie... :D

I spose I gotta see the original then. Is it old old as in "black an white ?" like what year is the original ?

Heh, true. Although it's bad when the big "shocking" and "scary" moment makes me piss myself laughing.
Hmm, I want to watch Day of the Dead now. I wonder if it will be playing.
PS-I lied. Zombie baby didn't make me laugh so hard I peed my pants. Sorry for misleading everyone. :(

The original Dawn of the Dead is from 1978, I believe. It's in color. Very vivid color. :D
The original Night of the Living Dead is black and white, though. Dawn is the first of three sequals to Night.
NotLD is also one of my all-time favorite movies. (y)

I dunno what my favourite scary movie is. But I saw a movie at the video shop called "Dentist" and on the back it looked NUTS. Like some guy holding down this chick, then another pick of a chick with NO TEETH, just gums, and blood everywhere, it looks psycho. Dunno if I want to see this movie. haha

I really liked House.
Event Horizon was scary. And The Others.
I rented High Tension last night. Pretty good-the first hour or so was totally ripped off from a Dean Koontz novel called Intensity from the '80's. But they changed the ending completely. I think the ending in the book worked a lot better.

I was going to do that thing where you say the name of a film that clearly isn't scary and is actually quite lighthearted, but then I realised it wasn't funny, and several other people have done it already.
But yeah, I like Donnie Darko. I don't know if you could call it scary but it's disturbing/twisted, and I enjoy (if that's the right word) watching it.

Open Water was pretty disturbing.

The Ring
Scream
The Grudge (not the greatest plot, but it did have startling moments, which I liked)
They were fairly original. I'm not really one for non-pop horror movies. Scary faces and suspense and blood don't really do it for me.

The orginal version of the grudge is really creepy and is much better than the remake. However I haven't seen the sequel "Ju-On: The Grudge 2" yet. Does anyone know if it is any good?

I watched Night and Dawn tonight, and I realised that when they're driving the trucks to block the doors to the mall and one of the zombies touchs Roger's face he seems a bit homophobically offended that a dude touched his face. You'd think he'd be more freaked that, oh, A GODDAMNED ZOMBIE WAS TOUCHING HIM!
