"I like vegan mayo better than egg mayo."
"I like soy cheese better than dairy cheese."
"I like carob better than chocolate."

Seriously girl, who are you trying to convince? Fair enough if you don't want to eat certain things because you've made a choice about the kind of lifestyle you want to live and all, but please, who do you think you're fooling with that nonsense? :p

i never said i liked soy cheese better than the real thing! please. THAT is no contest. soy cheese is practically plastic. but it gets the job done.

and i honestly never really liked mayo in the first place :\ but i like vegenaise on a sandwich here and there and in potato salad.

and YES i have had chocolate. i used to be a chocolate FIEND. dark chocolate is vegan for the most part. and i've had some fantastic chocolate. but lately i found this amazing carob bar with puffed rice in it and i can't stop eating it.

i was just saying :(

When the job is laminating stuff... absolutely!

heh. when it's to top something or make it gooey, then it suffices. just don't make it the centerpiece of the meal.

I noticed something strange about some of the vegetarians I know.

If the food is excellent to me and others, it is cum in your pants excellent to them.
If the food is good to me and others, it is excellent to them.
If the food is alright to me and others, it is really really good to them.
If the food is not good to me and others, it is good to them.
If the food is vomit worthy, it is alright to them.

I know. I'm just pickin on you cuz, you know, vegans are easy targets, being all weak from lack of complete proteins and stuff. I'm not proud of myself for this, but I just can't help it sometimes :o

just a quick history of it.

i don't think of it really as a cocoa substitute anymore, though. it's good in its own right. you might like it, mel. there are some pretty good brands out there. while i don't think it has as many antioxidants as cocoa products, one benefit is it doesn't have any caffeine. (y)

carob is nasty.

why is caffine bad if it is naturally part of chocolate? And there isn't nearly as much as in lets say THE DEVILS BEAN.

When Cosmo does these kinds of threads, I find them to be not only chock-full of information, but non-insulting and non-threatening at all. Not that this has anything to do with anything, but I think it deserves acknoledgement.

I'm glad that she doesn't shove her way of life down anyone's gullets, unlike other, more streotypical vegans. I throw popcorn at those kinds of vegans. Popcorn with delicious butter.

oh hush. i like carob.

caffeine isn't necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but it's a stimulant - a bowel stimulant, too. and it's addictive. it's the cause of most headaches (caffeine withdrawl, that is). there's not a ton of caffeine in chocolate...considerably less than coffee...but still, enough to give some people problems. and i'm pretty sensitive to it.

i just tried carob and happened to really dig it. shove it, chocolate snob.

I'm a carnivore, through and through, but I like reading about things like this because I'm thinking about changing the way I eat. Right now it's fast food and university food, which is killing me. So soon it is time for a change.

PS-Cosmo is secretly an ogre, but she masks it with her good intentions.
