nobody actually knew how unhealthy McDonalds and other fast food was? And our parents would gleefully drive us to fast food restaurants immediately following physical activity like sports and dance class? They'd let us have the happy meal to clogg our happy little arteries. remember that?
let the stroll down memory lane begin.....

Clearly, you did not grow up with my 70's free-to-be-you-and-me brown-rice-and-granola hippie mom.

I was allowed a McDonalds once every 2-3 months MAXIMUM. It was a general assumption that it was shit when I was little.

BigMac, Fillet-o-fish, Fries, Shakes. It all tastes the same and leaves a gross film on the roof of your mouth. (n)

Oh and by the way this doesn't have to be a "remember when" thread just about Fastfood/McDonalds. It can be about anything that use to be different.
(My parent weren't hippies at all but they must have know McD's wasn't great for us...so why they tookus there after dance class every wednesday I'll never know.)
i really hate macdonalds. it's filthy shit.
HJ's is the real shit.

Remember when slap bracelets were cool until the neon pink fabric came unwoven and so the sharp metal was protruding and suddenly the slap bracelets weren't so hip as much as they were pointy and bleedy?
I sure do!

We never went to McDonald's that often. It was mostly Wendy's and Burger King, and even that wasn't very often.
Remember when you were supposed to avoid being slimed in those game shows on Nickelodeon? Now being slimed is the prize and it pisses me off.

When the hell were you supposed to avoid being slimed? It was one of those "ohhhh noooo! :D" deals. You knew they really liked it.
I always thought that the shit they used on Double Dare's obstacle course was made out of real ice cream and whipped cream, so it was my lifelong dream to go on that show and slide my way down their super sloppy slip-n-slide with my mouth wide open.
Then I found out the shit they used was probably fake. Just like the wedding cakes at the grocery store.

True, they did like it. I thought they got slimed when they answered questions wrong though? I dunno, it's been awhile since Double Dare's been on.

haha, I don't remember. I just remember they had the option of going on that machine with the 5 hands that threw custard pies at you. And the slimer. And I have no idea why either was used. :(

Ah, yeah. The pie machine. I vaguely remember that.

That's what the GAS network on Comcast/Dish Network is for. Rekindling your old love affairs with Double Dare, GUTS, Legends of the Hidden Temple, and so on.
P.S. I think voice of Olmec was having a gay thing backstage with the host on Legends. (!)

Yeah, I have that channel. I tried to watch Double Dare a few months ago, but it just wasn't the same. :(

i remember my dad taking me and my brother there for breakfast. the soggy-ass pancakes and cat weiner sausages and the little butter pat with the M in it that retained its shape until you spread it and the watery syrup and the super-acidic oj from concentrate then getting all tummy-upset on the playplace slides. ahh, memories.
