remixing with macs

ok, first off i edit video more then i edit music so my remixing skills arent as good as others i have heard here, which also means my money has gone into video editing software instead of music editing software which has left me with garageband to work with, it has been fine except for the fact that i cant take instrumentals from other songs and slow down the tempos, does anyone know a good program that will allow me to do that with my mac?
