i kinda like how men bash on each other for dressing up. it prevents fashion from getting our of hand on the men's side. women don't do this. and women's fashion is really fuckn' pointless a lot of the time. and women's fashion is progresively getting less classy. this is becuase fashion is dictated by how the opposite sex depicts it. it seems men want girls that look like they have less and less class. and for the most part men don't really give a fuck what females think of them as much a females care what men think of them.

It keeps off the dust and provides an extra layer of fabric to absorb sweat. And in days before elastic fibers it helped the shirt maintain its shape. Just guesses here.

I remember that trend first really came about when I was like in 8th or 9th grade. Grunge was real big, Nirvana ruled, and sadly Kurt Cobaine died. And people wore those Addidas skaterboard looking shoes that were all worn out looking. And guys would wear their hair kinda long and all one length and kinda in their face. I hate lifting weights. My ex was real big into the gym thing...well, he used to be a personal trainer. And, I hated going with him. He would take it all seriously. Like, he would count to a certain amount of seconds that I had to be holding out the weight before I could release it or it didn't count. And he would monitor his protein intake, along with other stuff. If I wasn't throwing up by the end of the workout, then I didn't push my body to it's maximum potential...what a fucking meat head!

My philosophy is that if you're healthy and young...just stay active to stay in shape.

the thing was that, while i definately looked small...i didn't look that small.
people were always suprised that i wieghed that little...cause i had muscle tone and all... and could squat 205lbs...
man...i was just a freak.

I was just kidding with ya...I really didn't think you were actually like Tiny Tim...a fragile tiny kid that was sick all the time, constantly had a runny nose, and carried a cane because you were too weak to walk. But, was a damn good wrestler and knew how to play soccor like you wouldn't beleive it!

I used to work out with some friends. We goofed around between sets and poked fun at eachother and the other gym-goers, which would make a few heads turn because most of the people that worked out there were just working out quietly.

We were loud :D

But yeah, my arms are puny but I could leg press 120-130 kg (260-280 pounds).

Oh, our old gym was basically a social gathering for lonely rich housewives to gossip and have their husbands pay for them to wear skimpy outfits and stand by the machines and chat. Then, there were the meat heads that would compete in bodybuilding compitions and stand infront of the mirrors that were on the walls in the gym and grease up their shaven bodies and pose wearing only speedos. There were also the gay guys, but they all hung out together on the stairmasters. There was also the young 20's crowd and some of them were my friends...so that made it more fun to workout.

And I'm so serious. That describes the gym to a tee. I used to love to "people watch" there. It was hilarious.

Man, throwing up is hilarious. I normally try to avoid it as best I can. My younger brother used to be on the track team and after the sprints he'd go lie face down in the field and throw up, move over, keep lying there. I still laugh thinking about it. Poor guy.

I feel so like your Romy right now. "oh me too!" Yeah, throwing up is bad but just afterwards feels SO good, so spent, in that calm little "I want to pass out" moment of placidity that leaves your sweaty, quivering body limp on the bathroom floor for a brief moment until the next wave hits you. I found a way to bypass the actual vomiting and take a shortcut to that shaken but thankful moment of immediate post regurgitation and that is to choke on hot apple cider.

Throwing up has never really bothered me. Actually, it usually makes me feel better. And, I'm not talking about bulimia or anything like that. But, if I have eattin' something that is really upsetting my stomach or if I've drunk a little too much alcohol...I ain't scared to get it out. I mean it is a gross process, so I don't like do it in front of people or tell people about it. Plus, I don't do it on a frequent basis. It has to be the last option and it has to be during extreme times.

I don't get grossed out too easily, but I don't particularily like hearing and seeing other people do it...it is nasty.

I remember sometimes during dance practice, when we'd be working out so hard doing body resistant sort of stuff, like "suicides"...when you have to line up and run as hard and fast as you can to a certin spot, then turn around and run back, then the next person goes, etc. And you're not allowed a real break in between runs. Damn, those would fuck me up! I would almost always barf afterwards. I couldn't help it...it would just come out. My legs would be shakeing to the point I had a difficult time walking.

Someone mentioned different people carrying the look differently. If you look like your mom dressed you in sweaters and button-downs from Sears, and you look awkward like you are shy and the girls don't like you - it's emo.

If you look like you carelessly threw on the Brooks Brothers sweater and shirt you were required to wear at prep school, and you look like you row boats and harbor mesogynistic tendencies - it's jockprep

Gotcha. I wasn't aware a name was given to that trend. That was around during my highschool years, too. There was this club at school named AGAPE, which was founded by these "deep thinking", "me against the world" type of people. Anyway, every week they would meet and discuss their insecurities. Seriously...there were like 5 members, they had their group picture taken in the yearbook under the "Clubs" section. They had become an "official" club...I wonder if it's still around?

See, you gotta understand, I went to a strict-ass private school...we had weekly slip checks to make sure we were wearing slips under our uniform skirts. Our skirts had to be no more than 2" above the knee...and oh, you better beleive it...they checked. Anyway, you get the idea. The majority of the parents thought they were teaching discipline and encourageing ambitious qualities in their children by sending them there. Well, a lot did. But, as a way to break away from the feeling of confinement...a lot were either wild as hell or they choose artsy, deep thinking, expressing of emotions kinda shit as an outlet. Therefore, having a club like that, didn't suprise me. I beleive there was also a divorce support group club, as well, I think. Seriously. I remember there was a group that would meet in the cafeteria before school and discuss poems, creative writting, novels, etc. They'd act like they were so wise in the ways of the world...and I'm thinking, "You're 16 for Christ's sakes! You should be wondering how you're gonna get laid on prom night or something." Looking back, it was hilarious.
