Bad news of the day.....
My boyfriend is the assistant manager at a store and they just gave some major budget cuts. Due to this he is has to cut back his hours in the month of January to two days a week. this is a major blow since he usually works at least a 60 hour week. basically there will only be two employees the month of Jan my man and the manager and everyone else is off the schedule. I guess this is just for the month of Jan, and then they should gear up for spring. but still, how do they expect us to survive on 14 hours a week?
Good thing I'm getting a raise because looks like I'm going to have to cover January's rent myself as my man will be lucky if his pay check covers gas to get to work. I really think he's gonna have to find a new job rather than wait out January.
I this really sucks. I just found out what all the classes are for me to go back to school to be a Veterinary Technician and now I'm probably going to have to wait to start..because there's no way I can support us both and go to school part time. :( I was also going to be looking at switching jobs to something closer to vet med, but now that will wait too. :(
you suck universe! booo! how dare you do this to us!

well none of the schools in my area offer the two year program so I gotta do the alternate route..which is 20 units of classes and 36 months of working under a vets supervision.
the biggest challenge may be finding the vet to employ and supervise me. I have 5 years to complete both the classes and the supervison and sit for the test that actually grants certification.

so 20 units you can do that in one year?

well being that I'm only going to be able to be a part time student, it's hard to say how many units I will be able to carrry a semester. (each class is usually only 3 credits) depends on when the classes are offered and stuff.
Most likely I will have to get hired by a vet and take classes simultaneously to complete everything in time for the test.

yeah that's the reason I'm going back to school to do this. all I ever said I wanted to be was a vet when i was a kid. But I went and got a degree in something else. now I realize I should have stuck with what I most desired as a child.
it's not too late, I'm doing it! yay.
I guess my boyfriend is lucky he isn't loosing him job altogether, and the regular employees are really screwed cause they are off the schedule for the month and will likely go find other jobs. it still sucks though. He was trying to put in a year at this job before he started looking for something else but his year won't be til feb, which would mean he'd have to ride out the cut hours in Jan to make it.
I can only hope that something even better comes along for him. he works really hard but somehow, no matter how hard he works thingslike this happen and just blow up in his face. :(

I'm sorry to read this. I learned through trial and error to never be fooled for one minute that the corporations give a shit about my well being. It's a game with no one to blame but myself for being suckered.

The universe may be unfolding as it should. But I feel you. Be well. And good luck.
