Don't get sucked into buying some nice flowery smocks and dungarees now will you? :D
I bought my first pair of maternity trousers for work last week - as soon as i put them on my ever expanding stomach looked 'properly pregnant' - it's nice not having to breath in anymore. I have a sticky out stomach and i'm proud!

:) you lucky at least you can shop,me when i was pregnate ,we where kinda poor,so when i didn't fit no more in my clothes,i had to use what was available. I remember going out one night and having this brown legging pant, with a brown psychelic maternity sweater.I cry but that was the only thing fitting,i was at 8 months ,i think.

Next wasn't too bad, I did get two pair of trousers there, and the Red Herring maternity line at Debenham's was OK, if a bit limited.
But John Lewis has apparently stopped offering maternity clothes (I asked the salegirl, "Presumably we're to stop having babies, then?") which I think is weird because they are still selling cots, cribs, prams, pushchairs and every other bleeding thing one would need for a baby, but whatever.
H&M do a few items that are wuite cute and trendy and inexpensive - but only really for if you were like a size 4 before getting pregnant, it seems.

That's weird, I remember when my mom was pregnant I called her tweedle dee you know, off of alice in wonderland. She got so mad. My aunt's pregnant right now but she's trying to kill it by doing a lot of herion and drinking. She already has a 4 year old daughter. God, I hope that baby don't come out retarded or something. :( :( :( But I went shopping yesterday and got 3 shirts and 2 pairs of pants. It was a good deal too because the pants were like buy 1 for 30 bucks and get anotha pair for 99 cent.

Well, of course I will.
But the thought of spending mucho dinero on clothes I'll only wear for one season is killing me. I like t o buy expensive stuff, but I can rationalise it by knowing that if I spend on quality and classic pieces, they'll last me a while.
I'll need to get a nice outfit for holiday parties and all, but then what do I do with a £200 sequined maternity cocktail dress, you know? Wear it to the hospital for delivery?

who says you can't look great while giving birth? "i'm going to decline the hospital gown in favor of this little sequined number." then you just get it tailored later.
with child #1, i wore a lot of the maternity shirts and some of the pants up to a month after birth. with child #2, i was one of those bitches that lost every bit of weight when i gave birth, and i could immediately wear my regular clothes again.
i guess it also depends on whether you and mr.peachy might want to have another baby.peachy. i kept all my stuff and really didn't have to buy hardly anything the second time. after that one, i gave the stuff away. not all of my stuff came from a pea in the pod, just about 1 nice outfit in each category.

my aunt went to thrift stores and bought really cute skirts and pants in big sizes (she was a 4 prepreg, she was buying 10 and 12s) and bought a bunch of cute pregnancy shirts and those loose flowery shirts. thats how she saved moneys and looked fastastic. i had tons of fun playing stylist.

That can work if, like your aunt, you're already a petite sort of person to begin with, because then you can pull off looking just sort of eclectic and interesting. Unfortunately, I'm a fairly big person to start with - not hugely overweight, but tall, with big hips, and even bigger tits. So if I wore something that was 3 sizes larger than I normally am and not specifically tailored for maternity, I wouldn't look like some cute preggie chick in oversized kooky clothes, I'd look like a walking sofa.

Clothes are only half the fun, once the food cravings start to takeover, you'll have to post. My sister had me make a few runs for her in the middle of the night.....spaghetti and meatballs....funnelcakes.....there was one specific chocolate from See's and then another one from Godiva's....also a specialty chocolate shop downtown for chocolate covered cherry's....certain items from certain menus would only do.
Point being the cravings were supernatural and extremely specific...I was driving all over town for her while my brother-in-law fished in Alaska, it was hard work, like feeding some exotic animal a very precise diet in order to survive. I probably put a thousand miles on my car that last 3 months she was pregnant.
Now the kid is 6 and only eats burrito's and waffles...with an occaisional M&M, he's over here today, playing with legos' and some giant Star War's spaceship.
What was the Topic? Oh yeah, my sister was funny looking when she was pregnant, I mean that in a good way. :D

Whenever I go into Topshop, something will catch my eye and as I rifle through the sizes....."Oh, it's maternity." :(
It's quite expensive though, but there's some nice tops if say, you and mr. peachy were going out.
There's some nice stuff about that should have been around in the Eighties. Poor mum, she looked like a pin-striped tent!

A bunch of the women where I work pass a set of maternity clothes around. It sort of wigs me out but the women are all small and cute and apparently clean. My one friend was too big to join their club and she basically wore the same two shirts all the time.
There's A Pea in the Pod store at our little mall and my mom always asks what's wrong with the mannequins.
Oh, and Peachy, wait till your feet swell and you can't wear fashionable shoes. You might want to consider how bedroom slippers will look with the cocktail dress.

well since it will be winter/early spring then, and this being England, I figure I can just wear wellies for like 3 months.

I went up a whole shirt size thanks to that wonderful rationalization known as "empathy", which basically gave me carte blanche to eat whatever the hell I wanted so long as el prego wifeo did. I think that there's definitely a market for paternity clothes. I can't believe I just said that.
