playing with your friends, or what?
sometimes if your friends play a lot, andyou just start, they won't know what to expect from you, and you can take more money (i did this a good bit).
for me now, usually the same gorup of us play, and it gets kind of boring at times because we end up playing the same ways and the games will take forever

4 with 2 without
with friends: 2 and a split
without: 2

i think i am a pretty solid player myself
if i can keep my cool and be relaxed, i usually will win. but its when i get tired of no action and nothing happaning, its when i start to throw around lots of money and end up losing it all
i played for the first time a few weeks ago. i reckon i actually could have won if i stuck it out, but it was 2:30am and i really had to go home. i could have won $120. ah well. i was really cautious at first, but once i got into the swing of things, i went quite well

I'm getting really into poker now, lately. I've played it a couple of times sitting around drinking beer with some of my guy friends and I've gotten pretty good at it. The trick for me is to sit back and let them bet all their money away. Unless I know I have a really good hand...I fold and save my money. However, it gets tough when I'm one of the last two and they have all the money and I don't have nearly as much...then, I have to start getting risky and luck plays a part.

My dad plays it a lot
he was on last night in one of those Free Roll tournaments.
You have to be there ready to register otherwise the spaces in the tournaments(especially the free rolls) just go in a minute
good way to make a bit of free cash though (y)

I know the guy that won the 2003 World Series of Poker Tournament...Chris Moneymaker. He's from Nashville and went to University of Tennessee with me. Well, not with me...UT's pretty big. But, anyway, he really didn't start playing hardcore until about 6 months before he entered the tournament and if you watched it on ESPN...it was pure luck, in the sense, that he ended up winning. Last year, I went back to UT to visit some friends from school that still live in Knoxville and I ran into a guy I knew from school. He was getting money out of the ATM and he told me that Chris had called him and asked him to play some poker (he went to highschool with him). I told him he was crazy, but, then again, talent and experience only helps so much...it's all about luck, really. Six million dollars worth of luck!

people who have serious strategies about playing hate to play with people who just freewheel it. because you can't ever get a good read on what they are trying to do.
i love when i play with a big group or 7 or 8 people. but when its just like 4 of us, it usually takes even longer because everyone wants to play it slow
