tell his kid to '...go to sleep and stop being a dickhead'. I feel for that kid I mean it is (was) only 7.45pm after all AND considering it's daylight savings it's still light outside.

I'm not sure how old his kids are but I do know that they're school aged. When I was in school my 'bed time' was 8.30pm. As long as I was in my bedroom by that point and not annoying my parents they didn't really care how long I stayed up after that...

What time did was your bedtime when you were under the tyrinnical rule of your parents?

I had to go to bed around 8'ish, usually. But if I pulled the whole "I had a nightmare and can't sleep because the boogie monster wants to kill me" routine, I'd be up watching Letterman on a school night.

My mom always had different things that she was strict about growing up, than what "the norn" of what most parents try and enforce. Like, typically, parents enforce betimes and eatting all your dinner before you leave the table kinda stuff. When we were little, she never really cared about that stuff. But, as teenagers and even now, she would rather us come home shit faced over smoking a cigarette. She would go crazy over that because it looked trashy and smelled. Or we looked like we just rolled outta bed, mainly with my sister and I, she would make comments like, "Don't you want to look a little more presentable than that?" More superficial kinda shit. Oh, and saying a cuss word...that's worse than murder. And, I'm not kidding.

What sort of a parent calls their child a dickhead? That's just weird.

You never know the situation. I've pissed my parents off to the point that they've called me a lot worse. And, they're basically pretty normal people. And, I probably deserved it.

No, I moved out of my parents house when I was 15 so it pretty much stopped from then on.

The sort of parent that sends their kid to bed before 7.45pm, obviously.

PS. I agree with Anne, I got called a lot worse.

Wow! 15, really?! I'm 26 and I still need my parents for help, sometimes.

Well I never really had a set bedtime, in primary school usually 10:30 was the latest I could stay up. But once I got to year 7 there were no real limits. Anyway I've totally fucked up my sleeping patterns this year, can't get to sleep before 12:30 am :(

12:30 am isn't really that bad. That's about a normal time for a lot of people.

I used to work 2nd shit one time, from 3pm to around 12am sometimes, and I hated that shift. I'd get home and be wide awake. Then, fall asleep around 3am and get up around noon. Then, I had to turn around and get ready for work again. I never got to see anyone because they were either asleep or already at work.

Australians are so uncooth. "Dickhead", "cunt", "arsehole" are in regular everyday Aussie vocabulary for ages 12 and over.

Looking back, it's funny, my dad was such an ass. Like, I remember us trying to be funny and telling these really bad lame jokes that we like came up with on the playground or something. We'd think we were being so clever and tell our dad, in hopes to make him proud. And he'd look at us with this smartass sarcastic look on his face and be like, "That wasn't funny." Then not even flinch and continue on with what he was doing. Most parents would kinda chuckle or something, so their kid's feeling wouldn't be hurt. Oh no, not dad. Or he'd interupt us and ask if we were going to hurry up and get to the punchline.

Yeah when I was in Primary School it was like 8:30 - 9:00 for me. But when I get like grade 5 in Pimary school I was allowed to watch the whole episode of Blue Healers or Water Rats or whatever was on. I felt so cool  . But yeah at around year 7 I went to bed anytime. And now im also a 12:30 person. And I pay for it the next day :( .

Wow, I don't even remember my bedtime...probably 8:30ish. I remember staying up until 9:00 and feeling like a rebel. And once, to finish a report in the 5th grade, I stayed up till 11:00 and didn't tell my parents. I told my friends at school and they were really impressed.

till 11 to do a report? shiiiit. I'd stay up till 2 or later, because I was a lazy bastard who didn't do anything until the night before it was due. my mom would go crazy trying to make me hurry up. it made me go slower. and when Letterman was on, work STOPPED.

my old bedtime was around 10ish. that lasted up until grade eight, when my depression set in and I started to keep wierd hours. I'd get home from school and fall asleep, wake up around three a.m. and get ready for school. the next night I wouldn't fall asleep until four a.m. and then I'd get up at six. It really hasn't changed much since then, but its more regular. most of the time I'll go to bed anywhere from three a.m. to five, and I'll wake up around noon. It helps to have a night shift job.
