To download a high-res copy of this poster, do the following...
Step 1:
Login to the Beastie Boys Direct Connect Hub using a program called DC++ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/dcplusplus/) if you're on a PC or Mac DC++ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/macdcpp/) if you're on a Mac. For more information on the Hub or if you're having difficulties, take a look at this thread (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=21138).
Once you have the program up and running, click the 'File' menu, then click 'Quick Connect' and enter this address: jtcann.serveftp.com:1090
Step 2:
Once you're logged into the Hub, click the 'Search' (magnifying glass icon) button and in the 'Search for' dialog box, enter:
"dvd_poster" for the 24 x 32 inch poster size @ 181MB.
OR
"new awesome poster 24x36" for the 24 x 36 inch poster @ 222MB.
Then click 'Search'.
Step 3:
Copies of the file will appear in the search results. Double-click on a file to begin downloading a copy. If the user you are downloading the file off of is busy, you will be queued and your download will automatically commence when the user is available to share.
Once you've downloaded a copy of the file, we'd appreciate it if you'd share the file with other users on the Hub as-is (i.e. don't rename it). That way everyone can grab a copy.
Note: the "new awesome poster 24x36" is a more traditional movie poster size (24 x 36), so it'll be easier and cheaper if you want to get it printed and/or framed. It's also laid out a little better than "dvd_poster".

Take it to Staples or a place like that. It would cost you no more than $5 to get it printed.

Looks like I'm going to have to do a vigilante midnight plotting session here at the office with our gigantic hp plotter! (y)
Hope it doesn't suck up too much ink.
You guys can get it printed out at any Kinkos or the like... for instance there's a place in Los Angeles called Ford Graphics. They wouldn't have any problem doing a real nice print of it for ya! I'm sure there are similar operations in other cities.

yo, what up dukes! Hope you had a nice halloween. now, now, i was the cat-woman!
what the hell is going on anyway? what are you doing out there? don't be a stranger.....
you might have noticed we are in the process of changing up our web site, right? no? ok, well we are. so we've got that going for us.
we've got a bunch of new shirts. or maybe it's like old shirts being reissued, whatever.
and then there is the "solid gold hits" joint coming out on like the 7th or the 8th of this month. which actually turned out kinda hype. i have to admit i was kinda skeptical like "do we really need a freakin' greatest hits record? that shit is soft....." but then after we got the cover laid out and the joints sequenced and remastered with the extra stupid a-little-love-for-the-subwoofer bass, it sounded huge, so we can't really be that mad. also, all of those videos being on one disc is nice. so if you are into that type of shit, then there is that.
and last but not least there is "awesome; i fuckin' shot that!" coming down the pipe. That's the MSG flick that some of you guys shot. so that's what's going on over here at the scope. Please write back as soon as possible and tell us what you are up to!

like most of you all already figured out, the poster is in a high-quality vector based format (eps) which is a common format for graphics of this nature and quality. it's supported by most semi-advanced graphics softwares and you can either get it printed big or just squeeze it out of your little ink jet at home using Adobe InDesign or Adobe Illustrator and so on.
and as for slow connections, you might be better off waiting for someone with a connection better suited for you to get it.
also, to view shared files from a specific user, simply right click the user's name and choose "Get file list".

Could everyone who downloads the file please share it? Let at least let one other user grab it from you. This is the only way the file is going to get out to this many people.
To do this, make sure the file's in a directory you're sharing (File -> Settings -> Sharing - > Add folder).

If we could host it on a site, we would. A file of this size with this many downloads will bring any server down though, so we've had to opt for a P2P solution.

Does DC++ allow partial downloads from multiple sources? If not bittorrent might be a valid alternative to dc.

You can download from multiple sources, pause, resume and do all of that stuff. There are other clients out there such as this (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/File-Sharing/RevConnect.shtml) one which allows for multiple sources.
BitTorrent was something we looked at...But we've had trouble with trackers and servers in the past. Feel free to share it via BT if you want to.

We've just released another version onto the hub. This new one is a more traditional movie poster size (24 x 36), so it'll be easier and cheaper if you want to get it printed and/or framed. It's also laid out a little better.
The new file is called "new awesome poster 24x36.zip" and is 222 MB.
The old file is called "dvd_poster.zip" and is 181 MB.
Both the new and old files are available on the hub so you can grab either...though we'd suggest the new file if you're going to print it up.

Connecting to jtcann.serveftp.com:1090...
*** Connection refused by target machineThis is a common error message in DC and can basically mean anything from not meeting the minimum share size requirement (if i'm not mistakin this hub has it set to 1 mb) or not meeting the minimum slots requirement to being on a router and having ports blocked. can also be caused by accessing the hub as a clone though i doubt that is the case here.

You know, this really is pretty awesome. I remember being at that concert and wondering what the Beasties would do with all the footage being shot around me. Way to come through, Beasties... and Mr. Hornblower.
(Though I have to wonder which Beastie Boy exactly dressed up as Catwoman? Or was it, like, Yauch was Julie Newmar Catwoman, Diamond Eartha Kitt and Horovitz Michelle Pfeiffer?)

It's really a nice gesture to make the poster available for free. Very kind.
But they could make a little money if they sold it in the store. I can't access the hub and I'd pay for a nice, rolled up poster to come in my mail. If the band doesn't sell it here, someone will sell it on ebay.
well then at least someone is getting money out of it (y)
anyway, maybe you're able to find someone kind enough to send you a printed copy by mail? or get the file transfered to you some other how? might be a bit of work compared to ordering it online, though as you know there's always gonna' be side effects on whatever method you're using. when having something available in an online store some might not be able to open a paypal account or do not own a credit card and so on. you know.
still i can't say we've been informed whether or not this poster will be available in stores, so that leaves it open still. anyway, hope there will be a solution to your problem.

If you have the hub bookmarked as a favorite, you'll need to go to the favorites list, right click the Beastie Boys hub entry, and change your user name in there. That's all I can come up with.

I wonder if Kinkos would make a better deal if one of you bought multiple copies (and then distributed them to the hub-less among us)?
I'd throw in something extra for the effort, and you could even charge enormous shipping and handling charges like the BBs do. ;)

so what can i do?..well first of all check if any of those things i mentioned is the issue, i.e. not enough share, no slots open. you'll find those settings in the Settings window under Sharing. it should just be that. (y)

though you should try and connect to the hub via favorites like minton suggested. open the favorites window (golden star symbol), click the "New.." button, enter all the hub info, finish by also entering a specific nickname for the hub and make sure it's at least 3 characters long. no password or description needed; and then hit "Ok". once it's been added, just select it and hit connect.

Getting a 24x36 printed at Staples will certainly cost more than $5. It runs at $7 per sq. ft. At the Staples I work at we print them out on either a glossy or heavy matte finish paper on an HP Designjet printer --- the quality is phenominal, especially if the picture is created at high resolution to begin with. Enjoy!

The local Kinko's is charging 10 bucks a square foot so 60 bucks. Needless to say, I wasn't about to pay that. Anyway, my college's printing services will do it for 2 bucks a square foot and I was about to shell out the 12 bucks today with the file copied to a disc all ready to go but they needed it as a .pdf and said they have problems with .ems files for some reason. Anyway, I suppose I need to download a file converter of sorts? Anyone know what program I need since all I can find is converting from .pdf to other types. Also, does the quality degrade much when converting .ems to .pdf? Thanks!

I kinda have an idea about getting this printed to poster. I've been doing some price checking on the net for offset printing and I've been finding prices from around 500 to 900 bucks for 1000 posters.
Who would be interested in throwing in 10 bucks for the cause. I need about 50-70 people to throw in some cash. The more that chip in, the less money all will need to chip. I will split the posters equally amongst everyone that has chipped in.
If interested, pm me. I will start making a list and count the people that are interested. I will keep you updated on how many people want in. I won't collect any money till I am sure that we have enough people.

I'd suggest to do a printable PDF like PDF X1a or X3. I just tested it and
even with all the Fonts not being vectors it's just 15 MB (same size and
300 dpi resolution). I guess in this size it won't even have 300 dpi, more
likely to have 200 or lower to get a decent printing. Perhaps it cold be
hosted somewhere then? Just saying… ;)
