TRAISKIRCHEN, Austria - Police say a mentally ill man was found living in a house with his deceased wife's corpse in the bathtub.
Social services staff called police after they noticed that the woman had not been seen for several months. Police went to the couple's home and found the woman's badly deteriorated corpse in the bathtub.
A police statement says the man had been living with the corpse for a "long time."
An autopsy indicated the 66-year-old woman died a natural death. The man was taken to a mental hospital, where he repeatedly asked to go home to his wife.
The statement says the couple had no children and lived a quiet, withdrawn life.
