Very curious to know if anyone has heard FatLip's new album.
I'm broke and can't pick it up until I get paid this Tuesday the 15th so I'll have to wait.
I loved his EP that he put out in 2000 What's Up Fatlip/GoldMine but I was upset that he went with a lable that jeked all their artists aroound forever - Delicious Vinyl.
Yeah the Delicious Vinyl logo is cool and all but they have lost their distribution deal more times than James Brown got arrested for causing static on Angel Dust. Thus scrwing over acts that should have gotten paid but instead had to make ends meet other wise.
In fact they had so little money the Fatlip/Delicious Vynil camp that the song Gold Mine is just a sample of Wild Thing - a song done by Tone Loc who was a Deliccious Vinyl artist - thus the sampling sampling fee.
But what ever all water under the bridge I'd like to know which way The Lip goes on this one. His voice changed from the last time we heard him on the Pharcyde's second album to his EP so I wonder if it changed again or if he reverted back to his old style of delivery.
Anyway if no one has heard it yet - I will give a reveiw Wednesday the 16th or a couple days after. :)

It's a very good album. I too almost gave up any kind of hope that this would ever come out. The album does suffer from the fact that obviously some of this material was made about 5 years ago when I guess the album was supposed to drop. However, its fatlip doing his usual thing tragi-comedy hip hop at its finsest. 'Today's Your Day' is just doooooooope. U wont be disapointed trust me.

ya its pretty good...there's some bs on it like that baby's momma song about the kids...
but the song bassline with Charlie 2na is a banga
I didn't even know about this. Last time I heard anything from Fatlip was him playing drums talking about how he wanted to start a rock band like the white stripes. Of course this was after a bottle of Hennesy, but still, he said it.
Ill have to check this out tonight.

Last time I heard anything about Lip, a buddy of mine down in L.A. saw him on the bus, so I never expected to hear about dude again, much less him putting out a new album, but cool all the same.
On a related note, is Labcabincalifornia not one of the illest hip hop LP's ever made? Also, the more I listen to Humboldt Beginnings, the more I see its brilliance...

Blech.....don't like either.
It all went downhill after Bizarre Ryde. But when they are guests on other peoples work...it usually turns out on point.
But about him riding the bus....i totally believe it. My friend ran into him at a bar and was just talking to him. My friend said that he heard the "Whats Up Fatlip?" extended vocals version (translates to; fatlip just having a conversation) and it is exactly how things were going for him at that time. This was all over a bottle of Hennesy at my friends make shift studio and some Freestyling (which wasn't bad at all). That kind of shows how slumming he is that he just went with my friend to his studio (a storage space that was done up) and made some music with him when they had just met a couple of hours beforehand. Or it shows how laid back and cool he is/was. I don't know which. Either way...i'm going to have to see what Lip has in store for us.

Yeah I heard 'Todays your Day' on Yeah Right.
Spike Jonze' brother is producing some beats for him, from last I heard in 2003.

Fat Lip's new album got 3 1/2 stars in Rolling Stone, and a good review. Not bad...

I'm half and half on that one...
They gave TT5B 5 stars, but also gave G-Unit a decent rating, so I dunno...
