Do you remember watching Saturday morning cartoons in the 80's and then sometimes the commercials would have public service announcements about Keeping pot handles turned in or Mr. T cartoon commercial telling you to eat your veggies. Also School house rocks.

But there was this one commercial with a song saying

" instead of eating a Sunday .... Have A Saturday"

And it was canned Pinapple rings with the open circle in the middle and in the middle you place a half of bannana and you put whip creme and chocolate syrup & what ever else you want to put on it to make it yummy.

But I remember the song Clearly and it said----" instead of a Sunday Have a Saturday!"

Man I miss those Saturday morning cartoons. It's a Saturday Supercade were getting Physical fun...fun ...fun With Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Frogger, Kangeroo

Hulk Hogan's Rock n Wrestling CBS
PacMan Fever
Smurfs
Snorks
Shirttails
Gummy Bears Bouncing Here and there and every where high advntures that are on demand they are the Gummy Bears.( Those aren't the words but something like it)
Pee Wee's Palyhouse was on CBS 2
The Littles on ABC
Scooby Doo would run real late like 11:30 becasuue it's days as prime time cartoon (meaning Sat. morning cartoon) were done.
Then they had Scooby & Shaggy That was with Scooby Doo , Shaggy, Scrappy and one of the chicks and sometimes his cousin schmucko (the dog with the sherlock holmes hat that was ever dopier than scooby Doo.

Now Scooby Doo there is a Cyclopes who shoots fire out of his mouth and has poisonous snakes for hands...go into the cave and force him to chase you and then we'll grab the monster with this flimsy sheet. What you don't want to do it Scooby...how bout for one scooby snack no how about two scooby snacks and the dumb bastard goes and does it.

If I had any sense I should have called anuimal cruelty on those creepy hipsters with the "Mystery Machine" using poor Scooby Doo as a decoy.

I used to be so psyched to wake up for cartoons Sat morning that Iwould wake up and cathc the New Zoo Revue, Crappy David & Goliath or Zoobaly - ZOO.

then I'd have to sit through the old cartoons like Rocky & Bouwinkle and other Hanna Barbarra things then Buggs.

It's almost as if the beginning of the cartoons and the very end right before real T.V. came on was not the best cartoons but the premo time was from 9-11, basically all the new or cool cartoons.

I remember one Friday every Fall season they would have coming attractions for kids for the new Saturday morning line-up. I was so into Saturday morning cartoons - not after school like some people I was always doing stuff outside, sports or if I was inside my mom was making me do school work so I always would be outside after school.

Then at around 12 noon on New York channel five before it was Fox they would have WWF wrestling. Show Jiimy Snuka with his afro stand on top of Andre The Giants shoulders and jump on Ken Petera's head.

Or Hillbilly JIm & Uncle Elmer would wrestle the Somoans with Captain Lou Albano as their manager.

Also Soul Train would come on then Casey Casums show. Then some other show that would play videos (I had no cable becasue my block was not zoned for it until the mid ninties, so unless you had a satelite dish you were screwed. So those afternoon countdowns and Friday Night Videos were a big deal to me.

That was great. Then Fists of Fury would come on. Kung Fu movies. The on WPIX channel 11 they'd have movies on or Channel 9 WPIX would have Abot & Costello meet Frankenstein or the original King Kong or myfavorite The Son of Kong. He was so cool in his baby white Fur.

Back to wrestling on WPIX at 6:30 right before the Big East Basketball game of the Week and right after Mod Squad they would have another Wrestling show but this one looked at the weeks events and basically was like an interview show that 's set looked exactly like Johnny Carson and would have Vince McMahon interviewing wrestlers & managers and Lord Alfred Hayes was McMahon's sidekick. I would always watch that show becasue they had a mini wrestling ring with all wrestling figures that weren't in the stores yet that I would catch a two second glimpse of and wish I had it.

Forget iot then I remember Sat. nights WPIX 11 PM Tales From The Darkside then a couple of years later it wneton at 10PM and then on 1030 PM after Tales came the show "Monsters" basically more puppets & make up then Tales but not as scary and sometimes quite funny.

Then Saturday Night live on NBC or WWF Saturday Night's Main Event.

This whole thing started from Have a Saturday!
