Is it? What's all that money they take out of my paycheck, then?

We both know that you illegal immigrants don't pay taxes. Besides, if a stranger buys ice-cream and gives it to me, doesn't make it any less free.

It don't matter anyway; I'm getting my money's worth. I got home visits from my midwife, I'm gettin a birthing pool, and hell yes I want me some free Sure Start daycare dammit.

On the NHS? Excellent. Although I didn't think they did that alternative home birthing thing. Of course, I've not been involved in an NHS birthing situation for my entire life minus a few minutes, soooooo...

The actual birth isn't at home, it will be in hospital but they've got two pools there. Home birth was offered as an option but excuse me, who is going to have to clean up after that???? We have a new rug!!!
Islington council will help subsidise my nappy costs if we go with reusables (y)

How the fuck did you do that?
I got booted off my BCBS, and my parents put me on GEHA (it was the cheapest for everything they wanted me covered for) for $250 a month. :-/
EDIT: I just looked at BCBS, they say for $48 a month I can have insurance, but there's a $5,000 deductible! :eek:

Yeah, I wish we had free health care. This is going to fuck me up if I don't get a good job once I graduate.
But America's afraid of socialist programs because it'll turn us into communists. :rolleyes:

Sort of. While Socialism is a stage of development in Marxist theory, it can also mean "Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy."
In the UK it is also closer to meaning a socially conscientious system of policy.

Yeah. The way I see it at least is, socialism is everyone having equality, and installing programs that benefit everyone. Communism is when the government takes over control and runs everyone with an iron fist, yet everyone is "equal".
That's just me though.

Communism != Totalitarianism. A Communist system needn't be a one-party system.

my provider is bc/bs but through my employer. individual coverage on your own is always expensive. just shop around and be careful, sometimes cheaper is not always better.
