I suspect it's because it's a hits album and She's On It wasn't a hit.

I have actually never seen the Jimmy James or She's On It videos. I didn't expect either on SGH though. 3 MC's and 1 DJ was a hit though, that should have been on there. And Girls, even though the song is crap.

I think other songs could have substituted 'body movin', but the video is just sooo kick ass!

I never really thought about adding any of the songs you guys have suggested, (you could make an arguement for paul revere) however I really think Shadrach should have been on there. The song definately represents pauls boutique better than hey ladies does.

Thats my opinion on the matter and since my opinion is important I would stick it at the top of the list.

Philosophically that is..

It was huge in Brooklyn at the time.

Shadrach should have been on it.

Considering Paul's Boutique is an album with classic status, it certainly gets ignored a lot - there were more songs from the Licensed To Ill era on The Sounds of Science anthology, which annoyed me (especially since so much is made about how the songs on it were jokes and got taken the wrong way). They could at least have had The Sounds of Science on that album! (The Biz vs. The Nuge could easily have been exchanged for that, for starters.)

But this thread isn't about TSOS, and I understand that PB was the most unsuccessful of their albums; there could hardly be six tracks off that record on SGH. However, another one wouldn't have hurt, especially since Shadrach is among their best songs.

Listening to SGH now, though, I appreciate some of those Solid Gold Hits more than I did before. Everything that's been chosen for it is about right, especially if Capitol want to maximise sales potential.

hold it now hit it
jimmy james
gratitude
right right now now
alive
3 mc's and one dj
negotiation limerick file
she's on it
get it together
shadrach
she's crafty
girls
remote control

throw in a couple of new tracks for incentive and you've got yourself a volume 2, although some of these maybe aren't quite 'solid gold' enough.

not enough video's for a bonus dvd either!
