Whenever I'm sitting down I have to do one of two things: rock back on my chair or shake my leg/tap my foot. But it doesnt affect my sleeping. I think its just a nervous thing like, i dunno, biting your nails or clicking your tongue or something.
EDIT: Whoa, toucan and turd effectively swapped post content in those last two posts

sometimes i have nights when im just about to pass into unconsciousness and my whole body does this spas thing. it will do it all night. the jolt completely wakes me up. it's pretty freaky. i've fucked my hands up a few times from when my arms flail out and smack the wall.

you know, whenever you call me an idiot, its more meaningful than when somebody else calls me an idiot, because when youre talking about idiots, you know what youre talking about, you know?

i get restless sitting down all the time. i am always shifting my legs around. i sit on my legs, or prop one leg up or whatever. but i usually can't sit still for more than a couple minutes without shifting unless i am completely involved in something else.
sometimes i take nyquil at night to help me get to sleep at a reasonable time...i'm not one of those people who can just sleep when it's time to sleep, i can only sleep when i'm tired, so if my schedule gets thrown off it takes drugs to get back on
anyway my point is, i've noticed lately, not often, but sometimes after it kicks in, i'll have a near irresistable urge to just like, spasm my legs a little. it's not a spasm per se, because it's voluntary, if i wanted to, i could not do it, but for some reason i just really want to do it. it's hard to describe, but if you were me, you'd know what i'm talking about.

the only exercise you get is an extra keystroke by putting unnecessary e's on words that end with ing

sometimes i'll be lying in bed, not quite asleep, and my whole body will jolt like i've just fallen flat on my back, and hit the ground and bounced up
who gets that?

do your pants unbuckle too, causing your penis to fall out in front of young autistic orphans?

that happens to me, too. it's like, i'm between being awake and being asleep, i'm still conscious, but i'm sort of starting to dream, or something, then suddenly i'll think of something really loud and jolting, like getting hit in the face with a shotput, and i'll just jolt like you described. it's freaky.

That happens to mr.p fairly often. I hate it, because a) half the time his jolting wakes me up too and b) it makes him really grumpy.

That happens to me too and I once heard that there's an explanation for it that made a lot of sense at the time but now I can't remember it (it was something to do with the nerves and the mucles). Part of it was that nearly everyone does it but usually it happens as you've just fallen asleep so you don't notice it but sometimes it happens just before.
Restless-leg syndrome is a side affect of anti-depressant medication but I also know a lot of people who aren't on anti-depressants that do it. There's nothing worse than sitting in front of someone at the movies with restless-leg syndrome!

ohhh I hate that! My legs just get this tickly feeling, really uncomfortable and I'll have to go walk around even when I'm dead tired. I think someone told me tranquilizers help it.

yep that's exactly it. i used to think it was my soul returning to my body :o because it was like when you would be starting to "drift off" but then you have a thought and bam! your brought back to yourself. ok so maybe it is just nerves or something. but i still like my explanation better :p

anyway yeah I've got it pretty bad. As a matter of fact I'm swinging my legs right now. It's anxiety and I'm the type of person who always has to be moving and can't stand sitting still.

i thought i had this a while back but i didnt. you dont just move your leg cuz its a habit or move it cuz you cant get to sleep without moving it. you move it cuz you get a feeling in the leg like crawling or needles or a vibrating sensation and moving alleviates the feeling somewhat.
I always, almost have to, move my leg or foot when i'm falling asleep and when i wake up or when i'm resting to the point that i dont notice i'm moving it. i read about restless leg syndrome and thought i had that shit but no i just feel the need to move my leg.

I don't think I have it, but cort and I have taken to saying it all the time when we're lounging on the couch and we need to move. Like, "ugh, I have restless leg syndrome" and then we fake shake our legs.
lesbos.
I dunno, I always move my legs about. I'm doing it right now in fact. I'd like to think it's because I've got rhythm.
