Bionic - more great photos. I love the tire swing.

Audio - you should totally do a SF vs. _______ something they haven't put into a game yet (if there's anybody left). Like, SF vs. Predator, or SF versus Green Lantern. That Ryu looks great!

Audio.

I already started work on Ryu and gonna start working on Akuma a bit later.
Ummmmmmm but now that you mentioned it I am interested in doing Ryu vs ___
Mayber Ryu vs any character from Hannah Barbera. I dunno. I'm open for request if you want on that concept. Ryu vs anyone, your choice.

up to Waus on the Ryu vs ____.

Waus
01-30-2009, 10:48 AM
Oh.

I thought zombie Ken was a pretty good idea. All the DC Superheroes are kind of busy in that Mortal Kombat game right now - and all the Marvel heroes and other Capcom characters have been used.

Let's face it, Ryu has fought just about everyone. You have to pick someone pretty outside the spectrum: how about Ryu vs. Skeletor.

I really like this, but something about the gray reflected text bothers me. I think it should be there, but it's the color. I'm not sure what other color to use though.

The other designer at work thought the font was off too. Thanks for the suggestion!

Here's a new version (sorry for the disinterested people if it's too large):

Dorothy Wood
02-23-2009, 03:56 PM
I like the new purple reflected, but I think it could stand to be muddled. I can't think of the real word. you know, add a cast of a complimentary color to tone it down a bit. just a little.

and I like the original font and the square corners better, but that's just me. I dun like curved fonts. too bulbous.

also, I meant to say I think it's a neat design too. don't mean to be only critical. :)

that made me think of the font in the first one, I think if he were to go with that style font instead, it should be a bit heavier in weight (bold-ness).

Oh and the purple I think is the same purple as on top. Though I can see what you mean that it might be popping out a bit too much because the contrast...interesting.

And yes overall I think it rocks too :D

Hey thanks for all the feedback guys!

I liked the rounded edge font, but I was trying to get Bauhaus Std. - but for some reason only "bold" and "heavy" are available when I load it in Photoshop.

If you liked that one, here's one I made for my friend Mike, who's starting a new portfolio site. I literally just sent this to him today, in the same vein as the one I was doing for myself. He made the cityscape.

you should be able to stretch and/or squat the text however you want in photoshop though, it makes it more natural if you're going for vintage.

I personally altered the size and shape of each line of text on this piece of crap. I wanted to do more, but I had to crank it out quick and there was just so much text (I was forced) to include (they orginally had even more!) that there was no way I could make it as sleek as I wanted.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v350/sarkyd/requiredreading.jpg
doesn't look so good on the computer machine, but it looks pretty rad printed 11x17. except for all the text. damn those words. damn them to hell.

Waus
02-25-2009, 12:28 AM
I guess I could have gone in and changed the text to paths and tried to slim it. Honestly, since it's for nothing but my own enjoyment - and probably won't even be on my portfolio site - I just wasn't willing. I might still try to get the font to work correctly, it's something like the font used in this incredible ISO50 piecehttp://www.merchline.com/iso50/productdisplay.5522.p.htm I'm a fan of.

I like the big text up top on your 'Required Reading' poster! :)

whoa, there are some cool prints on that site. I like thissa one

http://www.merchline.com/storeimages/iso50-knitting.jpg

as for the font sizing I was talking about, I meant using the little doo hickeys that let you change the scale and what not. I'm not actually sure if you can change the thickness. I really don't know much about using computer stuff. I've only just started teaching myself.

I like the big text up top on your 'Required Reading' poster! :)

and thanks for that, I cut the letters out of legal pad paper and scanned them. (y)

aaaw what great I had in gaming these past two months in street fighter. I finally caught myself working once again in very very long delayed work I had during January but I couldnt finish it because well, been dedicated into SF4 and of course school.

Well I'm not done but I started to make Akuma. So far that is my concept of Akuma. I just dont know. I want him to be terrifying. I want this scene to be like tale of David vs Goliath. But I dont know... I feel like Akuma need more contrast to make him you know part of the element of being a dark character.
Well, I just need your advices. I need some ideas to make this Akuma become beastly.

http://vimeo.com/4728958

It's by a band from Brooklyn called The Press. Song is called "Master"

I story boarded it. Drew all of the props. Filmed it, and edited it.

The Band helped me flesh out the "story"

Phil Healy was my only crew member [other than the three guys in the band] did all of the lighting and assisted w/ camera.

The Band costumed themselves. Except for the dog which my gf Dana Kowalchyk, designed.

Colby Peterson did the color correcting.

And know you know. Enjoy.

So they are playing a live show to debut the record. Each song is gong to have it's own abstract animation/video play behind the band. This is the one I did.

Rest In Peace Wiz, I remember that day and what can we all say in the graffiti community other than even though IZ is human to us he was a legend. With that title over him all of us were shocked and sadden and we all gathered out of our honor for IZ.

That design looks ace Camo. I still would like to learn graphic design style but I seem to suck at them in my own opinion.

Nice drawing Funk (y)

I guess I might start showing some of my sketches later on when I can. Mostly all gesture nude figure drawings but I mean its not porn so I think it would be okay posting some here. Its not like I even draw nipples or genitals either. But in any case I'll just have to remember uploading some pics

The entry form was featured in a blog I was reading at work. There were 4 character templates to develop. Two had bucket heads, and two had wedges cut out at eye level. I turned my wedge into a stylish axe wound ;)

I notice there are 2 or 3 'gardeners/hillbillies' with upturned plant pots for heads. Godd job I didn't submit one of those, or I'd look pretty uncreative *nervous cough* :o

About 6 months ago, my Father had a pacemaker installed into his chest. I was there at the hospital waiting and taking care of Mother for three days. When we got back I decided to paint it how I felt it went down.

My Father has been a welder forever, so I figured they just put a small buzz box inside him to shock him back whenever he needs it. Lincoln is his brand of welder.

thanks - I appreciate it

the last one was from a macro photo of a wreath made of tissue paper flowers which is originally just a quadrant of the image. It created a "foreshortening" effect thus the larger paper petals and the exponentially shrinking petals.

totally mandala-esque - I find them pleasant to make and look at, like stain glass.

each of the images consist of approx 5 layers of varying in shade/contrast/saturation/blending/dodging or burning...
