I just got it for PS2 and haven't really had a reason to leave the house in the last 3 or 4 days. The ass kickery level is incredibly high.

OH MY JESUS I hate you.

I am too poor. I'm waiting for my birthday to see if anyone gets it for me. Maybe. Hopefully.

I wasted 6 hours last night playing video games though. If I get RE4 on PS2, no one will see me for a week.

yeah i just got it too. this is so awesome. it's like, the perfect zombie game. i'm not too far into it yet but i'm so impressed. i love how there's sections where the goal is just to survive against the zombie horde, and you can use anything in the level to do it. you can run in a house, barricade the doors and windows and just aim a shotgun at the entrance, you can climb up onto a tower and just blast them as they try to climb, or you can just go balls to the wall and kick their heads off. i'm so impressed by this game, it's 10000000 times better than any previous resident evil

I never thought a white guy named Leon could kick so much ass at one time. I don't want to give anything away, except for the fact that I'm glad I got this before Crystal.

The GameCube version sucked me in deep! I hear there's a fair bit of new stuff on the PS2 version so I might have to give it a proper look... but damn, it ain't anywhere as pretty as the GC release.

yeah, ps2 is a little aged, but when a developer really tries, the ps2 is capable of some impressive graphics. check out shadow of the colossus, god of war, RE4 (it looks damn good for a ps2 game) and so on, it takes a little effort, but with some pushing, the ps2 can do some sweet things.

The GameCube version has better visuals, the PS2 version an extra level and some new weapons. Both are good though...

This game is one of several reasons why I need to get a PS2.

I beat it and one of the extra missions a couple of days ago. That game was the main reason I bought my ps2. now I'm going to have to buy a ps3 for when Resident Evil 5 comes out

I havent got this yet, because EB games was out of it. I got Katamari Damacy instead, which was pretty kickass.

By the way, how is the control of this game? My main problem with past RE games was the shitty control. I never liked having to stop moving forward to slowly turn so I could run the other way. I'm more used to Mario64-style controls. I also didn't like not being able to use the handgun.

coincidentaly, I got this (http://www.hottopic.com/store/product.asp?LS=0&ITEM=284337) today, and I would have got this (http://www.hottopic.com/store/product.asp?LS=0&ITEM=237124) if I had enough money. but check out that guy who's modeling it. nice 'stache, Carlito.

I HAVE IT! I HAVE IT! :D yay! Birthday gifts are cool.

Anyway, the controls are fine with me on the PS2. But I've only played for an hour so far, so I may change my mind later.

I am so happy though. I have this, Battlefront II, and Soul Calibur III. I made sure to leave them at the boyfriends house though so I actually do some homework the next few days.

Then I can go back to having no life. :D

:D

happy birthday, C. this game does look way fun.

at the moment, i don't know if it's wise for me to get wrapped up in all of it. Of course, it is better to be deprived of fun for three days, than tea for one.

I haven't been spending enough time on this game. I got it the weekend after it was released and only just lit up virgil. I need to prioritize.

And RE4 has just been collecting dust in my room since it was released. I need to crack that bitch open soon.

so, bob...are the controls like past RE titles or what?

i would of atleast thought they would use the girl from the movies in the game for the main character. i never heard of this dude before, but hes in the game as the main character instead?

uuuh rwar, the movies and the games, two totally different things. Just about anyway. The games came first. Leon Kennedy was around in the 2nd game. As was Ada Wong. And by now, there has been 5 games and a ton of other games like "gun survivor," "outbreak," etc.

Not that you asked me Matt, but I think the controls are way better in this game. I mean, you can literally aim to shoot off someones arm, or shoot out their legs so they don't walk, etc. It's good times (y)

Bob

it's the same sort of "tank" controls, meaning you can only walk forward, backward, or turn; no sidestepping. in that sense, they're the same. however, they've moved the camera behind your shoulder now, it's not in a fixed location like it was before, and really, that makes a world of difference. you see what leon sees, for the most part, you can see enemies off in the distance, you can see whatever the hell you want to look at. plus, like crystal said, aiming is much better now too. you have a laser sight on your gun so you can pinpoint your target, you can aim at specific limbs, you can aim up, right, left, down, literally any direction you might want to aim in, you can do it.

the camera angle works SO well, it really makes the game tense. it's right over his shoulder, so you don't really have an idea of what's behind you, so you've constantly got to check. it gets pretty immersive when you're surrounded by zombies or something. it's really just an experience, it's a great game.
