I've been record shopping recently, and came across some shit which made me think could be some sort of inspiration for the artwork on the Beastie's albums.

First, the font and color of the letters used on the cover of "To The Five Boroughs" is used on bottom of Funkadelic's "Uncle Jam Wants You" lp. Second, the photo collage on the backcover of Check Your Head is very similar to the backcover of Sly & the Family Stone's "There's a Riot Goin' On" . Could be a coincidence..or might be subconscious inspiration.. or maybe flat out tribute.?? I know the Beasties are into both artists, so who knows.. Thought I'd share.

Cool stuff. Thanks for posting that.

I remember reading somewhere too that one of the CYH photo shoots (the one in front of the cabin) was inspired by either Bad Brains or Minor Threat.

Can someone with the skills post those up?

Both taken by Glen E. Friedman, from his "Fuck You Hero" books.
