why does it bleep out the word 'whore' and 'smokes dust' in the no sleep till brooklyn video, but not in the song on the cd? nor is the mouthing action blurred when these things are said. seems a bit pointless.

CD's parental advisory anyway, maybe in the clean version they're edited.
In the video, I did find that strange. When it's on TV, there's never anything bleeped out, but then again the other video's are either clean versions (e.g. ch-check it out) or video versions with the swearing blurred (e.g. root down).
maybe they felt no sleep... should be along the same lines.

This whole subject came up when the Anthology dvd was released and I think Yauch even commented on it.
Maybe Minton or tpk can pull his exact statement...but it was something to the affect that the videos were created to be played on MTV and there is no "non-edited" version for some of them. And that if they wanted to put the curse words back in now it would be a lot more work... so they just went with the videos they have.
As far as blocking their lips on No Sleep...they may not have had that technology easily available then.

Yeah but a version of the video without bleeping in does exist, so theres no work at all involved when comparing it to re-doing parts of sure shot or root down.
but oh well...this is all quite petty at the end of the day, i'm over the censorship on the anthology dvd so this is nothing :)

me too. stupid bleep. they could atleast have it saying something like 'pie' or 'kitten' instead of a bleep.
those bleeps just seem to make it less complete. nevermind though, i'll just play the cd version over the top at exactly the same time and mute the cd ;)
p.s. thanks for that laver (y)

"Our manager's crazy, he always smokes pie."
"MCA's in the back cuz he's skeezing with a kitten."
lol :D
or, um, the other way around would be just as weird
reminds me of american pie...if you know what i'm sayin'

I wasn't actually watching when the bleep came on. I was reading or something. It nearly gave me a damn heart attack. It annoys the hell out of me, but it doesn't matter that much because the LTI-video-thing one is unedited. But shit, why the 'bleep'? And then it bleeped again afterwards, after I'd gotten over the first two.
Moreover, why at 'smokes dust'? It's weird that that edit out references like that. Like on Kanye West's flim clip for Gold Digger, it censors 'weed'. It's sort of funny.

I think it's fucking hilarious cos it's such an old school BLEEP. It's like when you see changing room footage of footie managers like Peter Reid.
John Still: "We're gonna have a right sort out, you can bring your mates if you like, you can even bring your BEEP dinners"
Barry Fry to his goalie: "And you, you BEEP"
