The following things are just an easy way for people with no wit (eg TS) to try and insult people/ make a funny joke and are far overused. Please, I beg of you all, stop mentioning all of the below AT ONCE, or the board will just stay as repetetive and boring as it is at the moment:

OK, I mentioned your name (in abbreviated form, no less) as a small, throwaway joke in what was supposed to be a thread with an actual meaning. But seeing as you're so tunnel-visioned and eager to protect your "good name", you decided to try and launch a little e-attack on me. Anyway, seeing as you obviously want the attention, I will now explain why your above post is null and void:

Firstly, I'm not homophobic. I kiss and hug my guy mates for fun all the time, but I don't worry about people thinking I'm gay because people who know me know I love ladies, and lots of them (sometimes I even get in shit for it). Anything I do which is gay-related is in good fun. I do not have any problem with homosexual men or women, but like most people, I sometimes use old-fashioned words for gay people as insults. So what? Why are you worried anyway? If I call my white friend a nigga, is he going to start calling me racist?

And way to go with calling me brainless. I think that insulting a person's intelligence is the best way to win an argument. It's like saying "hey, you aren't on my level mentally but I spend my free time insulting you anyway". You're almost as cool as those guys who beat up retards for fun. By the way, I'm evidently not brainless. I don't understand what you thought you were saying when you typed that?

Please just stop trying to act like you're cooler and bigger than me, you're not popular, you love Star Wars too much, and from what I've heard, have problems attracting women. Is there anything about you I couldn't insult if I wanted to? Probably not, so just leave me alone and I won't completely destroy your obviously already fragile ego.

The worst thing about you Toucan is that you're not real. One minute you're this lonely Star Wars geek, hating on Mickill because he rips the piss out of you on a daily basis. The next day you're some kind of twisted, flawed clone of QDrop, overusing profanity and licking away at Mickill, QDrop, et al's browneyes like it was some kind of chocolate donut. Not only from day to day, but from post to post, you completely change your personality and attitude. Why? Are you trying to fit in? If so, what do you hope to achieve?

I hate on mickill because I love.

I'm clearly no clone of QDrop, there can be only one. I've made it clear to both of them I respect their approach to this message board. I don't feel the need to 'copy' them because I have my own persona (one that not to many people actually take the time to understand) and don't need to leech off of others success. So this point your trying to make doesn't really exist.

he has so many cool elements about him. i mean, sure he is a typical stuck-up rocker that likes to remind everyone "omg i started metallica, me!" but the guy is so brutally honest; it's cool and he'll be the last person to quit Metallica too. James was on the borderline of leaving, if you've seen SKOM, you'll know why, but with Lars. the guy really cares about fans, but he cares about Metallica more.

Hey, I saw SKOM at a film festival way before it was released and before it got any press at all! I stood in line and saw it with a bunch of Metallica fans. :)

I'll try and clarify re Lars. Rock stars who try hard to be cool rarely are. Lars clearly knows that he's not cool. He had to know that going public with the therapy and saying what he said on camera would make him look bad. He can't be that out of touch, especially after the heat he took over the Napster stuff. But he still put is dad Torben on camera looking like an old goat herder. He still sold his multi-million dollar art collection on camera. At some level, he doesn't care whether he looks cool, and that arguably makes him cool.

IT'S NOT A CLICHE, EXACTLY, but people need to quit saying, "I didn't read the thread, but . . . ." Yeah, like we believe you have more important things to do than read the thread you're posting in.

i do that sometimes, and it's not because i'm trying to show off or anything, it's more of a disclaimer. like maybe a thread is 10 pages long and i've only just noticed it, and i notice a post about 2 pages in that i absolutely have to respond to, so i'll say "i didn't read the whole thread but here's what i think about this". it's like a disclaimer, so if someone says "yeah dude someone already said that on page 5" i can go, "oh, well, i said i didn't read the thread :cool: "

or are you saying more generally that people need to start reading threads before they reply to them? i can agree with that (i'm guilty of it too, but hey)

No. I can't advocate spending more time reading threads--especially the dense ones in political. I understand your point about a disclaimer.

There's just something about the way some people do it, especially in threads that weren't that long to begin with. If it's not worth reading, why is it worth responding to? It's saying to me, "my time is more important than yours, I'm too busy to even skim your posts, yet I know that you all treasure my contribution, so I'm going to impart my wisdom before I get back to my glamorous life.
