i used to run. i used to run a lot. but having gone through many many changes, i got very sick of running. i was bored with it. and i havent really done it in a terribly long time. which means that i have lost my fabulous muscle definition. I really want to begin an exercise program, but i dont want to run. i dont like silly machines either. whatever shall i do?

what do you guys to do to stay fit, those of you that stay fit? i was thinking pilates, but that's not enough for me all the time. i like sweating.

Punching bag.
Skateboard.
Pull Ups.
Sit Ups.
Push Ups.
and I have been thinking about getting a rowing machine cause its supposed to be money.
I got a good 20 lbs I need to shed before April. So I need to make all of those mentioned above more routine.
The "Ups" aren't really "a good sweat" worthy....but the punching bag and skateboarding work real nice like.

Rollerblading? I would've never started exercising if it wasn't for those. I didnt take those things off all summer.

Less impact than running, you can cover longer distances (1.5 miles of rollerblading = 1 mile of running l'exercise-wise), better than biking because you can just take them off and put your sneakers on before you get on the subway, they make you look about 3-4 inches taller ;), they provide some extra weight on your feet, so they help add definition below the waist, etc etc.

The person that lived in my old apartment before me left a pair behind, a very nice pair at that... in my size! I used to play rollerhockey when i was a kid, so it only took about a week of getting used to before I was blading 15 miles a day, through traffic, over bridges, across the boroughs.

That's my suggestion.

You don't sweat when you're doing pilates? Maybe you need a higher level course.

Kickboxing is the hardest workout I've ever done, I sweated more doing that than I've ever sweated in my life. And its fun.

dance and martial arts classes, sit ups and stretching, small weights for my arms.

Different exercises will give you different kinds of muscle definition though. Basketball players have the best arms, runners have the best legs, swimmers have the best backs, ping pong champions have the best forearms, ballet dancers have the best necks, lawn tennis players have the best elbows, ice skaters have the best butts...or maybe you just see theirs in the most flattering way because they wear little skirts that twirl.

I just got in from my first antenatal yoga class. I'm guessing that that once a week plus the occasional swim is as much exercise as I'm likely to be getting for a while.

Unless lifting biscuits and chewing count as exercise.

perhaps someone could clear this up for me, is squash the same thing as raquetball, or is it different?

regardless, raquetball is a very sweaty sport.

I pump iron until the veins in my neck look like bolts of lightning and my abs feel like pieces of wood. Afterwards, I down a six pack and try to find someone who wants to fight me.

Do you mix your weight gain powder with the beer or cook it down and shoot it up?

I lied, I rarely do situps or lift weights. I take one ballet and two capoeira classes a week and that's it.
