I just had an idea... Find the best Beastie Boys remixes and put them together as a compliation. I bet with some smooth talk and legal stuff we could get the Beasties to release it on Grand Royal (as long as they were the best, as in amazing)... It would be a great showcase for some unknown talent...

The Prodigy kind of did something like that for their latest... They had a free downloadable remixed version of their album "Always Out-numbered, Never Out-gunned" called "Always Out-siders, Never Out-done" (bad title, I know). It was free because it technically wasn't official, but since the Beasties are giving us their a cappellas, a remix album would be cake!

Like there could be a special sticky post for people who want to submit something for the album (by submitting, you give them the rights to release it, or something). Then someone of importance could listen to all the tracks and decide which remixes are the best... Personally, I think there should be a selection of tracks across their whole career and also a variety of genre styles (but if it was necessary, it could be a single album, maybe TT5Bs). Also, only one song per person can make it on the album (maybe you have to give your real full name, or something). I don't know if who-ever made it on the album would get paid, but me personally, if I made it on (probably not), I wouldn't care about getting paid...

I don't know if the Beasties ever get on here to check stuff out, but if they do, I hope they see this. It seems like they love music to the point where they wouldn't hesitate to do something like this...

Feedback! Discuss...

Hi mate,

Thats a great idea I am totally up for it count me in. :D
There must be a way to be able to contact them directly too ; maybe lets try contacting the forum moderator and tell them about the project surely if they have a listen to some of the remixes on the forum they would love the idea.
Plus there must be a BIG reason why they have put their accapellas on the website;) .Why would they do it otherwise? It Doesn't make anysense, why would they give free accapellas!!!????(lb)

Oh... I didn't know. I'm out of the loop I guess.

I mean, if the Boys (agents or whatever) talked to the record company executives, I'm sure they wouldn't have any problems green lighting something like this. I'm trying to figure out how sales would do on a remix album... Thats what the record execs would be looking at... I'd imagine anyone who would buy any Beastie Boys album would buy a remix album. I dunno...

One hang-up might be since they just released Solid Gold Hits, they don't want to distract sales from that... Of course, Solid Gold is catering to a completely different Beastie Boys fan. Again, I dunno...

I didn't know Grand Royal was no more... If GR was still around, we would have this remix album out by tomorrow (I bet).

I say we still give it a shot. What do we have to lose?
