What is everyone's opinion of men that shave their head completely, as a coverup for balding?


A buddy of mine, who's balding, does it, and claims it's just the style he chose, and had nothing to do with him balding.

I say that's bullshit.

So when you see a guy that has a complete cueball "hairstyle" do you right away assume that he's balding, and cuts his hair like that to cover up that fact?

I don't assume it's a cover for balding. But I do think it's a favourable option for men that are. Much preferrable to trying to cover it up.

It embarasses the hell out of my dad, though, who embarasses the hell out of me with his combover.

Anyway, I'm curious -- you think it's some sort of affrontary for a man who's going bald to just shave it off? Hmmm.

If we accept that analogy, heavy people shouldn't diet and no one should get tattoos or piercings. Or wear clothes, for that matter -- I mean, they're just "covering up."

I personally have no problem if that's your option to deal with balding. I would probably do the same thing instead of rocking the horseshoe.

I really didn't get your analogy though. Unless it's over a scar or birthmark, getting a tatto really isn't "covering up" anything. Now, getting a tribal band, or barb wire around your arm, because everyone else is doing it, I would compare that more to shaving your head to coverup being bald, because the bic look is much more accetable than rocking the horseshoe.

Yeah, maybe shaving the head is trendy now (I'm not sure it's all that trendy, but, whatever), but should people not do something they honestly like just because others are doing it? That seems more childish to me; just do what you want.

i don't particularly think it's that big of a deal. it looks a hell of a lot better than a combover, though.
