You know what I'm talking about. Those bands who your friends and music critics rave about until they are blue in the face. So, you spend u mindlessly and willingly spend your hard earned $14.99 on that album and then..................... Your face crimples into a disgruntled ball and you just cant understand why people would like this utter shit.
I know its happene to you, and Im not talkin about Avril or Backstreet boys or sopmething because the only way u like that stuff is if your a 10 year old girl or a complete moron. Im talikng about albums that are supposed to be classic or artists that are suposed to be soooooo good but to you are utter trash. I know youve experienced this so share.
I think my pick has gotta be Pink Floyd........I guess I understand why people would dig it but at the same time I think thier music is overthought and pretensious boring crap. The wall is the most overated piece of drivel I have ever heard. I could go on and on but I'll leave some complaining room for u guys.

I don't think I've heard many critics rave about Nickleback or any Christian bands...
the trouble with Pink Floyd is that so many of their fans seem to think that the band invented music.

Nickleback, you suck
Pretty much all pop-rock crap playing on "Alternative Rock" stations. You all sound the same and should commit mass suicide.
Ja Rule , I know I rule, but you don't. Enigma is more gangsta that you.

Word on Floyd. In the early/mid-90s, there was a whole culture of people in my cornfield highschool who wore their shirts, and acted like Floyd was everything.
"Let's go watch the Wall again."

Yes Kaiser Chiefs! Whats that all about? and The Killers, it's like the mild cheddar of music.
Oh Eminem of of course. Never liked him never will. it's always been beyond how people still give him his dues, the guy gets away with sonic murder, like his 'last ever' single, it's just shit, utter shite and means absolutely nothing to me. he's just so fucking overprotected.

Lightning Bolt - one of the highest praised albums on metacritic.com, my friend was raving about how progressive and experimental it is, etc. Its bullshit.
Taking Back Sunday - The Emo kids love them. I saw them live. They're bullshit. He just swings his mic around, and never uses it.
Blood Brothers - I know a ton of people who swear by them; I saw them the other day opening for Coheed and Cambria, and they were the worst thing I've ever seen live, bar none. I was praying for TBS, no joke.

Its not like I haven't tried, I have white light, white heat, down for you is up and the best of Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground. Its just some of its cool, chilled, thought provoking stuff, but some of it is just weird. But then again i didnt really get the appeal of joy division until I worked backwards from new orders newer stuff to early joy division. Maybe I need to do something similar with the Velvet Underground.

any of those terrorist artists or bands that come from canadia, yuk! their lyrics are just drivel, i mean c'mon, who do they think they are kidding?
Fucking Phish.
You can't front on their music. They make/made great music. Their lyrics are out there, but who cares. Why is it that people automatically hate a band if they don't "get them?" I've never "got" Phish or WEEN, but I love them. Mostly because I embrace the music more than the lyrics I suppose, but they are similar in that if you listen close to the lyrics, they are fucking hilarious. WEEN makes it a little obvious, while Phish shrouds their hilarity in groovy jams. If Phish is a little too jammy for you, try Oysterhead.
And to answer the question. I don't get emo bands. Believe me, I'd like to get them.................................GET THEM AND RIP EVERY DIPPITY DOO PLASTERED HAIR OUTTA THEIR FUCKIN' HEADS!!!!! I'D MAKE "THE STORY OF RICKY" LOOK LIKE A FUCKIN' DISNEY MOVIE WHEN I'M DONE WITH THOSE FAGS!!! GGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! ok, i need a smoke.

Maybe it's all the heroin consumed by Kurt and Jim, your innate instincts may recognize the addicted traits of others. This may trigger a survival mechanism which causes a subconscious, perhaps conscious avoidance of such destructive behaviour.
Or maybe you just don't dig over-hyped, overblown multi-platinum anti commercial commercial rock.
Either way, I still enjoy them both.

It doesn't matter how "over-hyped" or "overblown" Nirvana may be, the fact remains that they put out a lot of fantastic music in a very short time frame. Each album they did something different and we saw a different side to the band, whether they were raw ("Bleach"), polished ("Nevermind"), acoustic ("Unplugged") or whatever. Hell, all the B-sides, rarities and unreleased stuff was remarkable, too.

BY WHOM? You the listener? What the fuck is this?
What I never understood is who does this overrating underrating. As far as I know is just a measurement of how stupid the public is and how the mass media blows shit out of proportion. I don't see what it has to do with a good artist..

Gwen Stefani, especially without No Doubt.
Aside from the fact that I have never liked her music (with or without ND), I also just don't get what it is supposed to be, or what she is trying to do...or something. She doesn't play any instruments, her voice alone isn't really anything great...what the hell am I supposed to be impressed by again? I guess the exposed midriff and bright lipstick?

I have never been able to get into the Velvet Underground either. As I age, I think I get where they're coming from, but I still can't listen to an album all the way through.
Pink Floyd rule. Maybe you had to be there. At least I got there before Roger left.
As for Sigur Ros -- see them live, ASAP (but then I love all things that remind me of Floyd.) :p

Yes, I understand that. But do you really like the music? Really? I sometimes like it when a song comes up on random play, but I can't listen to a whole CD. You know, I can't do that with Ramones either. I'm excited when a Ramones song comes up, but I couldn't listen to a whole Ramones CD.

Yes I do love the music of Sonic Youth. I have every single cd and listen to them all. I've been to at least a dozen SY shows. But I do realize they are not for everyone.

Michael Patton's stuff. I mean it's the whole reason he makes his music. I just bought Michael Patton vs the X-ecutioners and I'm kinda upset.
When the jams go down, they are some of the hardest hitting jams but the c.d. contains 23 songs on it but there's only about 4 I can truly listen to. The rest is just him fuckin' around with the mixer boards and shit.
this is gonna sound wack! but i really don't fully understand System of a Down...
but i think that's a good thing about them; the less i understand about them; the "less" i expect of them. they always have something different on each album, but then again; each album/track has "this is definately the SOAD sound" written all over it.
