Yeah P.Shitty royally fucked up the direction of mainstream rap, but scene is not helped by the mass influx of southern rappers who are functionally illiterate and completely incapable of opening their mouths. Or rhyming.
Not to say mainstream NYC and West Coast rappers are doing a lot of impressive shit right now. Basically it has become pop product.

I think the worst rap I've heard besides 50 Cent is the rapper in that song by Chris Brown or something. Don't tell me this ain't bad:

Plus I heard if you can dance you can bump
Well dance is up let's go, let's go(yup)

You ain't ready for all dat

blah blah blah....
If u only listen to whats on the radio of course its gonna feel like its going downhill. Rap nerds have been predicting the apocalypse of hip hop since Hammer threw on his baggy joints. Trash eventually dies and quality lasts period. If u not feeling hip hop now start digging in the crates there is loads of dope stuff. Refer to my best hip hop in the last 5 years thread.

Naw I looked it up on the internet but it didn't mention the rapper's name, it just had the lyrics. But I remember hearing that and being like "what? That don't rhyme!" But I ain't a hip hop expert, so don't take what I say seriously. :p ;) And I know Santana Juelz song "here it go (the whistle song)" , I'm surprised he's the one that rapped in that run it song.

I just hope they make a remix of Laffy Taffy with Beyonce. She has been out of the game for a minute. I saw destiny's child on the new mcdonald's commercial. that was spectacular. laffy taffy with beyonce. start a poll and let's show them how much we need that. we demand that. thank you kindly.

Right On very true , it's always horrible, except for the golden age which is why it was called the golden age of Hip Hop or Rap.

Of course it doesn't make sense. I'm sorry, you had somebody explaining something even simpler to you at the time, and were confused by the dreaded 'Two things happening at once.'
If you are indeed displeased with today's crop of artists or music, feel free to ensconse yourself in the now deep history of hip-hop. Relive the glory days of the Disco scene, the battles and parties. The Snoop Doggs, the Wu Tang Clans.
There has been far too much quality music in the past for anybody to ever be able to justify giving up on a style due to their distaste for the contemporary.
Nice try, though. ;)
