i'm seeing that movie friday.

i kinda hate joaquin. he seems like the creepy guy at the party that stares at everybody all night and when someone asks him what time it is, he snaps, "WHAT THE FUCK DOES IT MATTER TO YOU WHEN WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE ALONE ANYWAY?" and then stares back at the wall.

you know, I don't think I've ever encountered that guy at any party I've been too. I think you're just making that up, cosmo

...those types tend to be either in the 15-19 year old range or the 96-and-up range.

True, but I find it kinda gay that they make a PG-13 movie about one of the most badass mother fuckers to ever walk the planet. (n)

I have been a longtime Johnny Cash fan. I listened to Hank Sr and Johnny in High School during.............**clears throat**...........the early 80s.

I hope the film will be fantastic because Johnny always deserves his due props but.................
I was watching TV this week and I saw Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow singing his music. Now, I hear River's brother and the Clueless gal are singing Cash tunes.
I feel like going to Johnny's grave, digging him up and putting him in my deep freezer. I plan to study cryogenics and be the man to bring him back to life. When he is revived I will keep him at my house. We will smoke weed and drink coffee. I will have him play during pool parties and rent him out for Bar Mitzvahs.

I just hope when I see Joaquin Phoenix I don't always think of the Man in Black. I mean.......as it is now when I see Jamie Foxx and I want to put change in his tin cup and help him across the street.

P.S.--Why couldn't M. Night Shalamanbangadingdong have been doing a movie during the filming of Walk the Line?
Just kidding Joaquin is a fine actor but he should be running around in a cornfield instead of singing..............I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die.

I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die.I bet his estate is going to make some serious cash this year. Actually, I'm glad they made the movie so people can appreciate Johnny the way they did with Ray Charles after his movie.

Why do they have to wait until the people die though? I'm ready for a Stevie Wonder movie but don't wish him dead.

i heart joaquin. i really do.
i think he is a fine, fine actor and general human being type dude.
so enigmatic and dark. loves it.

i find it really annoying that people criticise actors for, um, acting another "real person's" life because they'll never be the same/never have his curiously shaped birth mark on his left butt cheek/never have 10 grey hairs on his head etc etc. i would rather someone give real life, real atmosphere to a character such as johnny cash than be a really bad impersonation - saying that, cate blanchett's turn as hee-haw hepburn is good, but how far can you remove her performance from being a basic mimic?

johnny cash, i'm sure, doesn't "belong" to anyone and the fans should stop being so precious about it. sheesh, it's only a film! if it totally shits on your own personal memories of johnny cash then don't see it, kiddos.

That pretty much sums up my impression of him as well.

why are you so upset about the making of this movie, the reviews have been great.

and Joaquin aint to shabby either. :o

OK, I saw it over the weekend. I was impressed by Reese Witherspoon's portrayal of June Carter and Joaquin did a fine job. I did think it was a bit of a La Bamba-esk film..........minus the mindnumbing La Bamba song and Lou Diamond Phillips.
I would have liked to see some of his later career....the hostage situation in Jamacia and his Rick Rubin days.
