Hello guys, I would like to take the time to tell you guys about a kickass new album coming out on November 22nd called "The Rising Tied" by a new group called Fort Minor. Despite being primarily hip-hop influenced, this album is aiming to be different by drifting away from the topics of womanizing, loading up on bling and the like that you usually find in most mainstream rap today.

Despite being released to the mainstream, this CD has already been described as "underground hip-hop with a big sound" and an "organic masterpiece". This album is organic because rather than depend on pre-made samples, project spearhead Mike Shinoda played almost all instruments by hand, recording his own samples and playing his own parts on piano. None of this album is really sequenced at all, and instead listeners are treated to a TRULY diverse and meaningful rap album, which rarely exists in mainstream rap music today. (With exception of the Beastie Bots and a few others of course!)

Non-Hip Hop fans have already listened to this album and appreciated it a lot. So I welcome you, to listen to this album, no matter what your musical denomination. I am almost certain you wont be disappointed.

If you like what you hear, please support Fort Minor by purchasing this CD on the 22nd in your local music store.

Thanks guys.

Yeah you say he's a shit rapper yet you haven't even listened to the leak. If you would you'd see he's nothing like he is in LP, actually quite different. This isn't "Linkin Park" rap, and you'd see that if you listened to some of the great tracks like "Right Now", "Kenji", "High Road" and "Where'd You Go".

I advise you instead of being ignorant to listen first, if you still find him shit that's your verdict. I only post about Mike Shinoda in Other Music, I've actually posted about the beastie boys in other threads.

I'm a fort minor street teamer, my duty is to promote where I post. Sorry if this offends you.

I like Mike Shinoda, but I'm not going to rip someone a new one simply because they don't.

i really dig "Remember the Name" and I like the beat on "Petrified" even though the lyrics are pretty gay on the latter.

I'll pick this up on Tuesday but fuck the leak, I'd rather hear it on my system for the first time.

ps, Mike Shinoda can rap when he wants to, just check his verse on Handsome Boy Modeling School's "Rock and Roll Could Never Hip Hop Like This Part 2"

Plus, as nice as that album is, it doesn't have shit on the first one.

And everybody knows that.

right, i listened to "Kenji", cuz its the one ive heard alot about.

Now, as much as its a noble effort to tell the tale of the interned japanese, do you no think he's amazingly obvious/bland with his lyrics? like its "this happened, then this, cuz of pearl harbour, then this.." surely he could have been a bit more subtle/artistic, but still got the message across?

i find this is my main problem with Shinoda, his lyrics to me seem far too flat and straightforward, i prefer a bit of thought behind the choice of words/phrases etc...

picked this up today and I really like it.

highlights are "Remember the Name", "Where'd You Go" and "In Stereo"

but I think they're all pretty good.

i love this album
he can mix up some sweet beats and i like his lyrics because hes got something to say and i can understand what hes sayin

did any of you watch the dvd? like the part that he wrote for cellos on track 1 he arranged on a keyboard and when they were recording it was too fast for the cellists to play it. so they cellists figured out that they could each play just a couple notes and get it done that way. sweet.
