I don't know all the particulars, but:

This guy I work with said that his kids get no allowance, but they get paid in "monkey money" (play money) for doing chores. Then, privileges like watching TV cost "money," or if they want to buy something, the parents determine how much "money" the kids have to pay, depending on whether the expense is practical or frivolous or somewhere in between.

Hmmm... I kinda like it.

i dont really like that idea. To many set rules, and id prob blow all my money in 1 day, so i dont think i could take it.

i kinda like it! it teaches responsibility. plus the kids will only spend their monkey money on stuff they really want or want to do. like maybe that tv show really is not worth it. (y)
i'm sure the first few days would be hard. and they will spend their money all in one day. but they would learn not to. plus i'm sure they would be willing to do more around the house. i like it!

Exactly.

I'd hate to wind up with kids who are hypnotized by TV because "there's nothing else to do." If you're watching Cribs re-runs, you better pay, ya little brats.

i don't like it. if i don't get real money for doing chores, i'll just rob a bank.
