It's always been Gilda. She's never had an equal.
jon lovitz
he's just one of those guys where he can't open his mouth and not be funny. he could say "i'm going to the store, does anybody need anything?" and it would probably be funny somehow.

I have had a huge HUGE hetero crush on Amy Poehler for years. She is so fucking talented and I'm really glad she's being able to showcase it more often in films and the like.
Plus the fact that she's married to Will Arnett and she's in my favorite movie of all time (wet hot american summer) puts her on the top of my list.
And bob I totally agree with you about lovitz - it's funny, even when you typed that sentence, I could hear him saying it in my head and I laughed. Hah.

I picked my two favorite guys, and two favorite girls: Amy Poeler and Tina Fey (I've loved Amy since the "Git-outta-the-oven" sketch, Tina is a great writer), and Will Forte (excellent Zell Miller) and Seth Meyers (excellent John Kerry).
Through all the years, it was Chris Farley and John Belushi. Girls, Gilda Radner and probably Jane Curtain or Cheri Oteri.
WhoMoi?

Kevin Nealon was my favorite SNL newscaster. He was also the last one to try to really seriously act like he was an actual newscaster, which makes it much funnier to me than what they do now. I like Amy, but I think she and Tina kind of suck at the news.
All-time faves: John Belushi, Eddie Murphy, Phil Hartman, Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Chris Farley, Chris Kattan, Will Ferrell, Cheri Oteri, Ana Gasteyer. And Steve Martin and Dan Ackroyd, mostly just in that "wild and crazy guys" thing.
As for present day...I really only like Darrell Hammond, Maya Rudolph, and sometimes Keenan. The show really kind of sucks now.

Belushi, Ackroyd, Murray. Preferably in the same sketch.
The diner thing is classic. Oh and Samurai Delicatessen. And Beethoven.

Horatio Sanz is probably my favourite current cast member... but yeah, these folks don't compare to what the show used to be. It's actually pretty lousy these days - you could say I can't properly reminisce of SNL's better days because I'm 17, but I can remember even a few years ago it was much better than this.
By the way, Christopher Walken made the best guest appearances, ever.

You are truly my little sister from another state. I was going to say this!!!
I think Jan Hooks and Jane Curtain were the most reliable female sketch performers in the history of the show. They didn't get the showy stuff, but they scored every time. Jan Hooks was in the better overall cast. Those were the golden years of SNL.

Saturday Night Live: Best of Eddie Murphy
Saturday Night Live: 25th aniversary special (lasts like three hours)
And last but far from least...
Saturday Night live: Best of John Belushi!
It has all of the ones I had on vhs once and was dying to see again!
