Hello,

I'm in a funk with music these daze...nothing "new" has genuinely excited me in awhile...how bout you?.....the new Blockhead is down, the new Blackalicious I found disapointing.....I find myself re-visiting old records and artists more and more often.....I'm looking forward to a new R.H.C.P record and rumors of a Pavement re-union....that's kinda sad.....what's doing it for you?

Turn me on,tune me in?

P.S: I just learned R.L Burnside is dead....damn.....suggestions from his catalogue?

Yeah the new Blackalicious and the Gab solo albums weren't the best. But if your into quannum some better albums the last couple years were the lifesavas "Spirit In Stone" and DJ Shadow's "In Tune And On Time". And if your looking for other newer hip hop albums one of my favorites is Arrested Development's "Among The Trees". Those are just some that I felt stood out from the rest.

Dj Shadow's In Tune And On Time came out last year. It's live and in my opinion his best album.

The RCHP?! For fucks sake, they're shit of the highest order. There's plenty of great stuff out there, you just need to look beyond the white-bread remit. Try checking out some of the Spank Rock mixes or Baltimore Breaks scene to see where genuine funk has evolved to.

I'm thinkin you missed the point and by the way "Blood,Sugar,Sex ,Magik" was the best record released in it's year,it's true, thanx for the suggestion save your slag....it's a mellowship,it's a fellowship and if you have to ask you'll never know. :D

Sorry, I did come across like a wanker there! It wasn't meant to be. I just can't be doing with RCHP!

Leave the Peppers alone, you high falutin' pretentious snob. ;)

Anyways, when it comes to new stuff. May I recommend some Bright Eyes? Anything DFA-related is a-okay. Yeah, you just have to be a sleuth. They're out there.

Since I actually get a little bit peeved whenever I hear someone say that there's no good artists anymore, I may as well try and do some good for the world, for a change.

Here's 100 best albums of 2000-04, according to Pitchfork

Bright Eyes it is then,my local library has 3 titles:

"Lifted or the story is in the soil...."

"I'm wide awake,it's morning"

"Digital ash in a digital urn"

starting suggestion?

cheers

Oof. Tough call. If you go with either "Lifted..." or "I'm Wide Awake..." you're in for some great music (the latter especially). But I'm unsure of which one to go with first. Just close your eyes and pick whatever your hand touches first. ;)

Go with "Digital Ash..." last. There's some decent tracks on there, but I think Conor Oberst was trying too hard to be like The Postal Service (if you're unfamiliar with them, do check them out) but he didn't quite pull it off.

Enjoy.
