Cool. I may've gotten my friend somewhat hooked into Raymond Chandler (specifically, The Long Goodbye).

Or rather, this sentence, one page one, did it:

"The girl gave him a look which should have stuck at least four inches out of his back."

God bless you, Ray (not "Ian": Ray). (y)

It's a raymond chandler evening at the end of someone's day and I'm standing in my pocket and I'm slowly turning gray. I remember what I told you but I can't remember why, and the yellow leaves are falling in a spiral from the sky. There's a body on the railings that I can't identify, and I'd like to reassure you but I'm not that kind of guy. It's a Raymond Chandler evening and the pavements are all wet, and I'm lurking in the shadows because it hasn't happened yet.

Which album is that on?

I never listened to Robyn much... maybe two albums and one little 3" CD I had.

Recommendations?

I don't listen either, I just remember the words to that song. In fact for years I thought it was just a poem.

...well, it's definitely better than Cope/Smith's "Robert Mitchum." :)

The part in Ryan's Daughter something something something
The way you looked at her something something something...

Can't remember, exactly. It's okay, but clearly written on the toilet. Toilets. Whatever.

The temptation to say "Pleased to Meetchum" when getting introduced to him must have been intense.

It's a darned fine movie.

One of the few movies where being kind of dated actually helps. (y)

I cannot convince one of my friends (who hates Elliot Gould) that it's a great performance. And it really is.

Did you ever get to see California Split? Holy smokes, that's a good movie.

....It's about gamblers, but it's not really about gambling, per se. I don't think you'd pick up much. Croupier might be better for that.
