View Full Version : What's up with Adrien Brody?

I know it's become more and more common for actors to transform their bodies for movie roles, but I guess I just didn't see it coming with Adrien Brody. I picked up the latest issue of Men's Health yesterday and I didn't even know it was him on the cover at first.
You can read about his workout plan a little here (http://www.menshealth.com/cda/channelpage.do?site=MensHealth&channel=fitness) and about his diet here (http://www.menshealth.com/cda/article.do?site=MensHealth&channel=fitness&category=workout.plans&conitem=4abfe39e1f1c6010VgnVCM100000cfe793cd____). That's if any of you care. Anyway, yeah, I was just a little surprised.
A related question: Does anyone know what George Clooney (http://ffmedia.ign.com/filmforce/image/clooney_syriana_set1_1097866223-000.jpg) did to get in shape for Syriana?

Did you see Brody in the Pianist? Wow, he lost so much weight. He also rocked a mohawk in Summer of Sam.

He's like Snoopy Doggy Dog. I wonder why the man doesn't want to become muscles and face like the other rappers. Well, I like him, especially because of that! :p

Yeah, I think he just stepped up into Christian Bale's league for drastic physical transformations.

What, just because I was surprised he was able to get into such good shape in a relatively short period of time, does that mean I want to have sex with him? Huh? And even if I did, does that make me gay or something? Huh?

Maybe.
Knowing where he lives, he might've done the DeNiro thing in Italy: just pigged out on Italian foods and drank lots of alcohol.

I heard it was fried chicken, but I wasn't too sure.
Hey a-z, is it true that they postponed filming for Cast Away for something like a year so that Tom Hanks could lose weight? I'm sure you must know.

...about that long.
Zemekis went and filmed What Lies Beneath during the hiatus.
Whenever Hanks was asked how he dropped "so much weight" he'd get kind of pissy and not answer.

I think he looks great but its sort of like Edward NOrton and American History X. You have to ask yourself how healthy it is for someone to do that to their body. Matt Damon said that he suffered permanent damage for what he did to himself for Courage Under Fire.

Yeah, what Matt Damon did was dangerous. And I'd say the same for Christian Bale in The Machinist. But all Ed Norton did was gain something like 30 lbs of muscle mass and then lost it due to not keeping up with the diet/workout plan he was on. I think the physical changes Adrien Brody has undergone is more analogous to that than the other examples.

Yeah.
Damon supposedly fucked up his electrolytes. I'm not sure exactly what the results of that would be, but I'm imagining we're talking about major cramping and possible organ damage.
Man, he was great in that movie, though. My friend and I stayed during the end credits to see what the actor's name was.

I think the shirtless guy posing on a sailboat picture should have retired in the 80s, no?

i haven't seen the magazine, being in the uk 'n all (and this stealth message board viewing can't really cope with the possibility of semi-nude pictures of himself popping up if i hazard those links) but he was here in glasgow filming the jacket. apparently he was a wee bit of a cock. but no more details for fear of revealing my sources! ;)

Dear God, woman! Why would I have linked people to "semi-nude" pictures of a man? He's just topless, that's all. They're not images of him with a semi goin' on in his Speedos or anything.

Judging by your reaction, I'm assuming you aren't talking about the George Clooney one.
Yeah, that Adrien really caught up to me quick, dammit. *does push-ups*

I didn't buy the magazine.
But I do understand the difference between ripped and buffed. Hell, he's been "ripped" forever... he's a doubleplusectomorph, for Pete's sake.
Now, when Philip Seymour Hoffman gets ripped, I'll be really impressed. (y)
